She snuggled against my chest, and it made my heart lurch. We rode to my place, her sleeping in my arms.

I walked through the front door, and E met me, his eyes wide.

“Where the fuck… How the fuck?”

“Cole had her,” I said softly. “Looks like her ankle is messed up. I’m going to take her upstairs to the spare room. We can call her guys after we get some answers. She’s blitzed on pain meds right now, but I expect she’ll come around soon.”

E nodded and followed me upstairs to the spare room. Quickly, he pulled the blankets back, and I lay her on the mattress.

I got a pillow under her foot before we covered her. She snuggled in and continued to sleep.

“Don’t tell her guys,” I said softly. “I need to talk to Cole first. Maybe you should prepare to take Laz away.”

“Anson wouldn’t hurt me,” E said, his voice strong.

“Well, her insane husband might. I don’t want that to happen. And fucking Dante Church is her brother.”

“I’m not leaving,” E said firmly.

I knew he wouldn’t, but I had to try.

“Fine. Get the saints here to guard the front door. We don’t want any unexpected guests again.

E nodded and left the room as I settled into an overstuffed chair, my eyes fixed on her.

Waiting.

ROSALIE

Iwoke in a room, the day fading into night. I never slept that much, but I’d had a bad two days after Cole walked out on me. He’d not come back, at least when I was awake, so I wasn’t so sure he’d completely abandoned me.

I whimpered as I sat up and looked around.

I definitely wasn’t in the room I’d fallen asleep in. Cole mentioned he had a second place lined up.

I rubbed my eyes and peered around the room, and let out a soft gasp as a dark figure stood and approached my bed.

“Enzo?” I whispered as he stopped next to me.

“Hey, Rosalie,” he murmured.

“W-Why am I here? Where’s Cole?”

“Cole is at work. You’re here because your husband paid me a visit last night. Claimed I had you. I knew that wasn’t true because I haven’t taken a hostage in quite a long time, and especially not one who is as beautiful,” he murmured.

I swallowed as I stared up at him.

God, he was intimidating as hell. He seemed taller. Bigger. He had a tattoo on his neck, and his hands were tatted. I knew hewas definitely sporting more ink beneath his perfectly pressed suit.

“Care to explain to me why you were living rent-free in the basement?”

“Cole took me from my hotel room,” I whispered. “He knocked out Ryder. He-He drugged me. I woke up in the basement.”

“Did he hurt you?” Enzo asked, his voice holding a note of danger in it.

I shook my head. “No.”
