Her magic buzzed and pulsed within her, and the trees were a siren call that was nearly impossible to ignore. She was brimming with magic, her body glowing with bright green light, as she breathed in the crisp air before staring at the trees that surrounded them.

“My mate.” Briggs’s voice was slow and drugged, and she dragged her gaze from the trees, a small gasp escaping her mouth.

“Briggs?” She cupped his face. “Are you okay?”

He blinked at her. “Yes, why?”

“Your eyes are completely green,” she said.

“So are yours,” he said. “Holy shit, I feel so fucking good right now, little witch. Your magic is awesome.”

She laughed, and he grinned before lifting his hand. He waved it back and forth, and she watched the glittery green light trail from each fingertip before she raised her hand. They held them palm to palm a few inches apart, and she gasped when the glittery light from their fingers stretched across the open space to meet and intertwine. Another pulse of magic throbbed through her veins, and Briggs made a low groan, his softening cock twitching inside of her before it hardened again.

“Fuck,” he muttered, resting his forehead against hers. “You feel so good around me, little witch.”

“Fuck me again,” she said.

“I think the top of my head might blow off if I take in any more of your magic,” he said.

She laughed and pressed a kiss against his mouth. “Truthfully, I’m also starting to freeze even with your warm body.”

He rubbed her bare thighs, frowning at the goosebumps he could feel, before easing out of her. “Let’s get you home, my mate.”

“Yes, let’s,” she said. “We can fuck in the shower.”

He grinned. “You think you need more magic in you right now?”

“I need more dick in me,” she said.

That made him laugh hard, and they quickly dressed before he took her hand. “I’ll fuck you in the shower if you promise to make that delicious chicken rice meal for dinner tonight.”

“Bartering sex for food, huh?” she said.

“Do we have a deal?” he asked.

“Deal,” she said.

His smug look made her laugh. “Joke’s on you because I was planning on making that tonight anyway.”

He grinned and bent his head to kiss her. “In that case, maybe…”

He stopped, raising his head to sniff the air, his whole body tensing before he said, “Little witch, run!”

“What?”

He turned, his big body swelling and his clothes tearing from his body.

“Run!” he roared.

Cece screamed when bright blue light surrounded them, and she and Briggs were torn apart. She flew through the air, her body landing in the soft snow with a thud that snapped her teeth together with a hard click.

She scrambled to her feet, screaming Briggs’s name before another blast of magic, this one bright red, sent her flying backward to slam into a thick pine tree.

Pain rocketing through her body, she stared wide-eyed at the blond woman wearing the red cloak standing before her.

With madness in her cold blue eyes and a ball of flames hovering above her hands, her grandmother said, “My son is dead because of you,” and threw the ball of fire into Cece’s face.
