Briggs’s gaze never left hers. “I don’t want to be anywhere else but here, little witch.”

“Briggs,” she whispered, that hot need washing over her again. “I don’t think I can keep resist-”

“Okay, let’s get that door installed before - whoa, maybe we shouldn’t be leaving you two alone.” Judd sniffed the air as he and Tori walked toward them from the kitchen.

Cece stepped back as a growl rumbled out from Briggs’s chest. Judd gave him a good-natured grin. “C’mon, you can use all that pent-up rage you’re suddenly feeling for me to carry the new door inside.”

Judd yanked open the door and gave Briggs a look when he didn’t follow him. “You coming or what?”

“Stay in the living room with Tori while we fix the door, little witch,” Briggs said. “It’ll be too cold in the hallway for you.”

She nodded and watched Briggs’s perfect ass walk out the door until he pulled it shut behind him. She glanced at Tori, flushing a little at the bunny shifter’s grin. “Sorry.”

“Hey, I, too, can appreciate a great ass when I see one,” Tori said. She was holding Linda, and she petted the dog before kissing her head affectionately. “Come into the living room with Linda and me, and we’ll relax while the men work.”

Cece laughed. “Sounds like a perfect plan to me.”

CHAPTER 25

“You don’t need him to do a barrier spell.” Briggs pulled into a parking spot in front of the potions shop. That there was a spot this close to the shop was in itself magic. It was Friday afternoon, and the potions shop was smack dab in the middle of a popular shopping area for the paranormal. Both the potion shop and the surrounding shops had a steady flow of customers.

He scanned the area and lowered the window to take a deep inhale of the cold air.

“I do. I’m not powerful enough to do the spell myself,” Cece said.

“A barrier spell doesn’t need to be done at all,” Briggs said, before closing the window.

“You know that’s not true. Unless you agree to lock your bedroom door at night?” Cece asked.

Briggs shook his head. As much as he didn’t want Monroe anywhere near Cece’s bedroom, locking his door wasn’t an option. “No, I won’t do that.”

“Then the barrier spell is the solution,” Cece said. Her phone chimed, and she glanced at the screen. “Monroe just texted me back and can stop by tonight to do the spell.”

The growl slipped out before he could stop it. Cece glanced at him, and despite knowing it was none of his fucking business, he said, “You need to have your room tidy before he goes in it.”

She burst into laughter. “Okay, Mom. And my room is tidy, thank you very much.”

“Don’t have your… things where he can see them… it,” Briggs said.

She stared at him in confusion. “What things?”

“Your…” he made a motion with his hand, “thing.”

Her confusion radiating from her, Cece said, “You’ll need to be more specific.”

“Your vibrator!”

Her mouth dropped open, and her cheeks went a fiery red as Briggs said, “Don’t leave your vibrator on the goddamn nightstand. I don’t want him picturing how you look using it like I-”

He cut himself off abruptly, but the damage was done.

Her eyes wide, Cece said, “Have you, um, pictured me using it?”

“Only every fucking night,” he said.

She swallowed hard at his admission, and his bear chuffed to her when the scent of her excitement laced with a tinge of embarrassment drifted to them.

“Are you being for real right now?” she asked.
