Noah laid above the comforter brazenly, the strap on glistening beside the takeout bag while the harness laid snug on their hips. Every now and then, as we ate, Noah’s eyes would wander back to my body, or they’d catch me taking in theirs.
“I haven’t gone on a date, or had sex, or anything really since my husband passed.” I stared at the sheets and softly cleared my throat. “Thank you for being so . . . gentle. You could have—you were everything I needed. Both times.”
Noah smiled softly.
“You’re hard to resist, but I promise next time we will go out somewhere nice. Maybe one of the restaurants at the casino. Whatever you’d like, and—”
“You still want to go out with me?” I asked.
“I didn’t intend to fuck you the minute you came through the door.”
“I know, but . . . dating is—”
Noah sighed. “Eloise, I meant what I said, you have captivated every part of my head since I’ve met you. The least I can do is take you out. If you want sex, okay I’m here, but I want a chance to do it right. If you’ll allow me to.”
I chewed on my bottom lip and nodded.
“I’d like that, but privately?” I requested. “If I tell Kendall he’ll be bias. I want to know something will work before I take more of a risk than . . . this.”
Noah rolled up to their knees and closed the distance between us. They tucked my messy hair behind my ears and softly cupped my jaw.
“You’re the most beautiful woman I have ever laid eyes on, and I can see in your eyes that won’t change as I get to know you. Give me a chance?”
I closed my eyes as their lips pressed against my forehead.
“Iguessyou’ve convinced me.” I teased, tilting my head back to find Noah’s pretty eyes. “Hand me a fry?”
Noah smiled and picked up a fry from the bag. Instead of handing it to me, they placed it between their teeth and hovered close to my face.
I gently bit it, brushing out lips together, and stared into Noah’s eyes as I moaned loudly at the taste.
“Tease.”
“I’m soppy wet and naked in your bed. Do something about it.” I laughed.
Noah raised their brows.
“You could finish your burger while I eat you out again.”
“With my luck, I’d choke and die.”
We both laughed, settling back against the mattress, staring up at the ceiling.
I brushed my fingers against Noah's beside me.
They laced our fingers, kissing my knuckles.
CHAPTER 16
The next Lakeside home game meant I was back at the high school with the middle schoolers. A whole four weeks of dropping crumbs around the idea of dating with Kendall, actually dating Noah, and attempting to balance being more involved in colorguard.
How else would I spend my little free time with both my favorite people?
“Miss Sullivan.” Noah dipped their Lakeside baseball cap as I approached. “How was your day?”
“Busy. Lots of work to do but had the time to put this together.” I pulled an envelope out of my pocket and slipped it into Noah’s hand. “Open with caution.”
Noah narrowed their eyes at me and wandered along the sidelines away from the group of colorguard teens preparing for warmups.
