I smack my lips and stand quickly. “So that’s how you knocked me out the first time, huh?” I ask, now slightly pissed. “And you took away my moment, did you see that? He looked so scared!” I stomp my foot, not caring how childish it comes off.
Dean ignores me and picks up Jax’s limp body, hauling him over his shoulder. Max and Brandon follow behind Dean, but Teddy stays next to me.
“Don’t worry, little devil. That’s how they look at me too.” He drapes his coat over my shoulders and wraps an arm around my waist. “Don’t be sad. We get to play with him all night.”

My little devil did well tonight, but I’m ready to see a real performance. I want to see how she can handle a blade and how she gets information from people.
We return back to our manor and quickly bring Jax into the basement. We are all still in our event clothes, including my little devil. She looks poisonous in her gown. Flaming red locks and her body wrapped in green that hugs her so beautifully. She truly is a devastating creature. The only thing missing from her ensemble is blood dripping from her ivory skin.
I have Jax chained to an examiners table and once he is secure, I search my cabinets for a homemade antidote to the drug that he consumed at the event. We didn’t give him a lethal dose, that would be a waste, but just enough to keep him out for a few hours.
I inject him with my homemade antidote and slip some smelling salts under his nose. He wakes up instantly. He struggles against his restraints and screams the second he sees me.
“Good morning.” I sing-song. All I get in response is more screaming, typical. I’m not really sure why everyone is so afraid of me. I’m not a bad guy; I just like to watch them bleed. “I’m actually quite nice.” I say over his yelling, “I volunteer at the animal shelter, serve time at the local soup kitchens, I even doRelay for Life. I’m not going to kill you.” I explained. This gets him to quiet down, and he stares at me nervously, like I’m a live grenade.
“You’re not going to kill me?” He heaves.
“Of course not,” I shake my head and lean in close. “She will.” I point over to the little devil sitting on the counter, waiting so perfectly like a glass of whiskey after a long workday.
He turns his head quickly to see her swinging her legs and smiling down at him. “Hi there,” she says sweetly. It sounds sweet but I know it is laced with venom.
“You… you said you’re-.” He starts fighting against his restraints even harder than he did when he was scared of me. I know she has a reputation, but I didn’t quite know it was one that preceded my own.
“The Sparrow.” She says nonchalantly and hops off of the counter to approach him. “My, my…” She sighs. “You have a lot of answering to do, Jax.”
She hops to the table to sit next to him while holding a pair of pliers, “We’ll start easy, yes?” Suddenly Jax goes still, his body freezing in place. “Say yes if you can understand me, or else I’ll start removing limbs until you do.”
Jax flinches at her words, “Yes, sounds good.”
“Good boy,” she pats his cheek twice.
She turns to where Max is standing and says, “I need music please.” She gives him almost a believable smile.
Looking back at Jax, she snaps her fingers to be sure she has his attention, “Now, this will be kind of like musical chairs. While the song is playing you can think about your answers, butwhen the song stops you have to answer, or you lose a finger. Got it?”
This creature is something of my greatest nightmares. Her crazy is matching my crazy. During the drive she discussed what all needed to be answered before we disposed of him, and I know that Jax is in for a long evening.
“I think so.” Jax answers.
She gives Jax another sinister smile before turning towards Max, “Play ‘Bad Things’ by Cults,” she asks. Already knowing the song, I stood up straighter, appreciating her taste.
“She really is our personal brand of crazy.” says Brandon, who I completely forgot was also in the room. My brothers don’t always stay for this part, and I like that my little devil is already bringing us closer together again.
“Okay Jax.” She claps her hands, making him flinch. “What did you try to drug me with tonight?”
Jax just lies there, unanswering and she signals for Max to hit play on the song. Once the sound starts to flood the room she jumps from the table and starts to move around the room. She’s… dancing?
“Come on boys, don’t be shy. Dance or you’ll be on the table next.” The little devil commands and I’m the first to move her direction.
She sways along to the melody and sings with the harmony. She grabs hold of my wrists and begins to pull me into step with her dance. I notice that the others don’t move from their spots along the wall. She scoffs at them when they don’t join in the fun and looks at me, “Why are they so serious?”
I don’t know how to respond so I just shrug as we continue to dance to the music. She stops suddenly and holds a finger to Max who listens immediately and cuts off the music.
