“Yes, Alpha! Yes!” My throat is raw from screaming.

Strong hands cradle my head from behind. The alpha pounding into me growls, baring his teeth, but the other alpha doesn’t back away. I writhe between them, drunk with pleasure. Lightning bolts of ecstasy shoot down my spine with each movement. Through the fog, my omega recognizes the alpha touching my head. But I can’t smell him.

She whimpers, and the sound opens up to a loud cry as I reach for the scentless alpha. “No, come back. Don’t hide, I need you, Alpha!”

The alpha fucking me shoves his knot in, stretching my limits. My back arches as pleasure explodes through my core, making me quiver uncontrollably. But even as he fills me, my body craves more.

My trembling fingers grasp for the scentless alpha’s waistband, but I can’t get his pants off. Something’s wrong. Why isn’t he inside me, too? My nipples harden painfully as I imagine being filled completely, taken by both of them at once.

“Alpha, more, please?”

I clench around the thick knot inside me, my slick walls pulsing hungrily. My tongue darts across my lower lip, my teeth feel sharp. I need to bite. To claim. Tears of desperate need spill down my flushed cheeks.

“Please, Alpha?” I whimper, spreading my thighs wider, arching my ass.

The scentless alpha pets my head, his breath hot against my ear as he whispers something too low to understand. It’s in another language, I don’t know, I can’t think straight. His fingers trace my jawline, thumb brushing across my parted lips. His eyes—glowing gold, vibrant and beautiful—search mine, brows drawn together, the corners of his mouth turned downward. He looks sad. Why is my alpha sad? When he leans in, I grab his waistband again and pull him against me, feeling the hard length of him through his pants.

“You are bewitching like this, Omega,” he groans, voice thick with restraint. “But I can’t. I’m sorry.”

“No!” I cry, when he pulls away.

The alpha inside me grunts against my throat, his teeth scraping my claiming mark while his knot locks us tighter. His eyes are vacant.

The scentless alpha watches. I reach for him, but he pulls further away. A sob catches in my throat.

But then the alpha’s fingers find my clit again, and grief dissolves into mindless ecstasy.

Chapter 7: Ghost

This is why I don’t do people. I don’t like this feeling. Worry. Anxiety.

I like control, organization. Plans.

Fuck my life.

They’ve been practically locked together for two days. The moment I walked into that cabin and saw Silas in a rut, completely lost, eyes black, I knew we were fucked.

It’s taken everything I have to keep him from killing her. He fucks her too hard, for too long. But she keeps begging for it. I wonder if this is our fault. If we held off too long. Maybe her omega wouldn’t have been so desperate for it when she finally got a knot.

I force-feed them both water and bits of raw meat, using magic to leak some of the pheromones from the cabin. It helps a little. Long enough to keep them hydrated and fed.

Mona is covered in bruises. She’s so depleted from the heat that she’s not healing fast enough, and her body is a mess offingerprints and bite marks, skin rashed from scraping against the wood floor and wall, whichever way he takes her.

It’s painful to watch, but also… I’m ashamed to admit I want to join them. When I enter the room, her eyes shoot to me, and she reaches for me, and in those moments, I feel… wanted. Desired in a way I’ve never been. And fuck, do I want her back.

But I keep my scent locked behind my shield, so she doesn’t do something even more reckless, like try to bond me.

Besides, Silas is too possessive right now to let her do anything beyond accepting food and water from me. It’s for the best. I don’tactuallywant Mona. I don’t want a relationship, or a pack. I’ll get them through this heat, then we’ll find our way to Silent Peak. Then I’ll be rid of them both.

I just finished killing a squirrel. To be safe, I kept the ward from letting any creature in or out, so we’re running out of animals to kill. I gut the body and peel off the skin, pulling out the organs, leaving them for other animals to eat.

When I walk back to the cabin, it takes me a second to notice the silence.

Mona’s been screaming for so long, her voice had grown hoarse. But she’s quiet now. I listen closer, honing my senses. She’s sleeping. Silas’s breaths are quicker. Her heat seems to be slowing down, but I’ve never witnessed one, I’ve no idea, really, when it’ll stop.

I rinse off the squirrel meat, refill the pitcher of water, and cautiously step inside the cabin. The scent of sex and pheromones is overwhelming. I leave the door open to let the air and heat out.
