Chapter 16

-:- CHAOS -:-

This week has passed quickly, and now I have Corey settled in the apartment. His school is organized and ready to restart next week. I can see a way forward for all three of us, meaning myself, Victoria, and Corey.

I’ve had confirmation that the house offer has been accepted, and the realtor is going to rush the sale through. How fast that will be I’m not sure?

Victoria and I have sat together in the evenings this week talking about our lives, and it’s been good. Finding out what makes her tick. Her strong friendship with Bethy shows what a solid person she is, and loyal. The more I know, the more I’m sure she is my person.

“Are you nearly ready, Corey?” I shout from the kitchen where I’m collecting the truck keys and my wallet. I’m hungry and looking forward to this date night. A family night, and Victoria looks stunning, mouthwatering in fact. She has a summer dress on with string straps, but when she shucks on cowboy boots and a short denim jacket, she takes my breath away. If she had appeared in a more formal manner, I would have been worried. I’m not going to be comfortable with a woman that dresses likeshe’s spent thousands on the dress or pants she’s wearing. But to look like the girl next door has started my lusting engine.

“I’m ready!” Corey bellows as he runs into the kitchen with the brightest smile on his face I think I’ve ever seen. He has on black pants, a white button-down shirt, and biker boots. I look at Victoria and she is smirking back at me. I realize she’s had something to do with the new clothes that Corey is wearing.

Sitting at Club Whisky with a table laden with baskets of food, I watch Corey’s expressions. At first he was timid, but as the time passed, he got more and more animated. I look at Victoria when she nudges me with an elbow.

“Who is that woman glaring at me?”

I turn to where Victoria is looking and sigh when I see it’s Denise Johnson. “She’s a menace is what she is. She won’t leave me alone, and has been banned from the range because of it.” I turn back to watch Corey, but I stay alert to Denise in case she starts trouble.

“Have you had…” Victoria looks at Corey to see if he is occupied before continuing, “relations with her?”

Jerking back with the question and having a disgusted look on my face must say it all. “No, I have not. I would not, and will not.”

“Okay,” Victoria replies, taking me at my word. Which she should, as I’ve not given her any reason to not believe I’m truthful?

“Can I go play with the kids over there?” Corey asks as he points at the children's play area.

“Yeah, but only there. Do not wander anywhere else,” I tell him, and I’m good with him doing that. He’s not a small child that needs an eye on him all the time.

Victoria leans on my arm, and that gives me the go-ahead to lift the arm and wrap it around her. Pulling her close to my body. “He doesn’t seem to miss his parents at all does he, Chaos?”

Shaking my head before kissing the top of hers, “No, he jumped into life with us as though he’d not had parents at all. It says a lot about his home life doesn’t it?”

“It looks like he didn’t have one.” Victoria snuggles into me more, and I can tell you now that her closeness has my body reacting in a way that it shouldn’t when we are in the middle of afamilyevening.

“We can give him that family, Vicky,” I murmur as I snuffle the top of her head.

“Maybe?” I hear whispered, and smile because that’s all I need.

The evening was uneventful until Victoria visited the ladies' restroom. When two women rushed out and shouted a fight was happening, I ran to the room and entered without waiting to see if anyone had their panties down.

What I saw when I rushed inside had me stop and watch with my mouth hanging open. Vicky has Denise by the hair and is banging her head against the wall. Denise is spluttering, “Stop it,” while Vicky is snarling something I can’t quite make out.

Pushed to the side when Eden storms into the restroom I stay where I am but pay attention to the fact that Victoria is going to be alright. Eden quickly tells Victoria to let go, which to be fair she does. But it’s the kick to Denise’s shins that has me hooting with laughter.

Eden snarls at Denise, “You are banned from the club. We don’t need bitches like you in here. We have families here eating and enjoying an evening. Nobody wants to see your stupidity. You are nothing to Chaos, and let’s be honest here. You would willingly climb any male like a tree, that stepped near enough, anyway. Now, get the hell out before I get Chaos here to throw you out, and I mean by the seat of your pants. Oh, and if you go near my man, Silver, you will find yourself buried alive with me standing on top of the grave singing something about the living dead.”

Denise runs past me and out of the restroom. I turn and follow her so we are sure she leaves. By the time she’s finished, she’ll be banned from all the town shops and properties. I know she’s banned from TJs, one of the hairdressers, and the bakery. There may be more that I don’t know about, but she’s on a roll to get herself banned from town.

Making my way back to Victoria who is laughing with Eden at our table I give her a close look over. “You okay?”

“I’m fine. She didn’t stand a chance. I bet she’ll have a colossal headache in the morning,” Victoria giggles, and Eden laughs along with her.

The night ends peacefully, and Corey doesn’t take long to fall asleep once he’s climbed into bed. “We’ll have to do that again,”I say and chuckle when Victoria responds with a cheeky, “Yeah, and without the restroom fight.”

Cuddling and talking quietly so we don’t wake Corey, we sit in the living room. I’m shocked when Victoria turns and gives me a look that tells me she is trying to read me. I take her face in my hands and kiss her nose. “I’m here for you, Victoria. I’m here for Corey. All we need is to take hold and hold on tight. Build the family that we want. If that is what you want? I’m not sure what time could tell you that we haven’t already spoken about. I know your background and you know mine. We can be a family together with Corey.”

Victoria must come to a decision as she leans forward and kisses me gently. I slide one hand behind her head and the other around her waist, drawing her closer to me.
