“It’s not a big deal, so let’s not make it one,” I say, waving a hand dismissively. “Paul is getting married.”
“Already?
“To whom?”
“She’s got to be an idiot.”
“Does he have a ginormous cock I don’t know about?”
I snicker at Quinn’s cock question. “Hardly.” Rolling my eyes, I pick up my drink and lift it to the center of the table. “Cheers for dodging the biggest bullet of my life.”
“Hell yeah.”
“Absolutely!”
“Yes Queen!”
Savanna grins slyly at me as she clinks her glass against mine. “Your fucking perfection is far too great for him anyway!”
Sticking my tongue out at my soon-to-be sister-in-law, I bring my glass to my lips and take a long sip. Perfection I am not. Perfection would never betray a loving brother.
I’d be remiss if I didn’t remember that when I’m stumbling to my room in a few hours.
When we get back to the hotel hours later, I’m both relieved and disappointed to find out the guys aren’t back yet. It shouldn’t be a surprise given who took Nate out. While Brody doesn’t party hard, Liam and Luke have been known to have a good time, at least since Hailey and Luke got together. Prior to that happening, he had his hands full trying to get back into her good graces after a misunderstanding kept them apart for ten years.
Plus, Savanna’s brothers really wanted to ensure that Nate had a damn good “one last time” before he married their sister. Which seems ridiculous. Nate isn’t the type of guy to have a good time without Savanna. Before her, he was a workaholic, and since she’s come along, the only time he’s doing something for himself is if she’s involved, or she’s encouraging him to. As wrapped up in her as he is, it’s a good thing she’s around. Now at least the guy has a life.
“Jor!” Quinn calls from the other end of the hallway. “You good?”
We all just left Savanna’s room, Quinn and Hailey stumbling the opposite way of Maddie and me. Maddie is right across the hall from Savanna, while I’m down the hall.
“Fine as wine, baby!” I call back, lifting my thumb in the air, feeling the effects of the alcohol. “Fine as wine.”
I reach my room and hold my key to the door, giving them one last wave as their giggles disappear down the corridor. It’s going to feel so good to get these heels off my sore feet after a night of dancing in them. And maybe take a shower to get the sweat, and ick, off before I hit the clean sheets. Plus it’ll help sober me up before I crash for the night.
“See, you’re not as drunk as you think,” I tell myself, dropping my clutch on the TV stand. “You’re not so drunk you want to go to bed.”
I snicker as I bend over to unclasp the strap on one of my shoes. “At least to sleep.”
Liam’s face floats in my mind and I pause on a sigh, letting the memories from last night completely wash over me. It makes me stumble a little, and I grab onto the bed, slowly letting myself down on it, both heels still on. I can’t think about this, but I also can’t help but think about it. It’s the same feeling as last night. Screw everything. Screw my loyalty to my brother—which is completely lost at this point—screw what may or may not be good for my mental health, screw the fact that he only sleeps with a girl once and never again. Screw the fact that we agreed last night should be left there.
I want him. I want Liam. I want to feel perfect again.
Getting up from the bed, I grab my clutch and pop it open, pulling my phone out. He may not be here, but I can text him. We’re in Vegas until Sunday. The damage of breaking my promise to Nate has already been done. My guilt can’t get any worse than it already is. I might as well indulge in the pleasure that Liam bestowed on me last night.
Me: Where are you guys?
Stumbling backwards onto the bed, I watch my phone like ahawk as I reach down and finally unclasp my shoe. It takes a few tries with the drunkenness in my fingertips, and I fumble with it, and then the other one. By the time I’m done there’s still no answer. Hell, he hasn’t even read it.
What did I expect? They’re out having a boys night. A drunk fest with god knows who. God knows what.
“You can’t hate,” I remind myself. Then, in a bitter tone, I add, “Doesn’t mean I need to like.”
Five minutes later there’s still no answer. It still hasn’t been read. In frustration, I put my phone up and head towards the bathroom, turning the shower on. I’m starting to suspect that I’m not going to hear back from him, but a distraction in the way of a shower is a good idea. Then if he still hasn’t texted by the time I’m out, I can just go to bed and play my message off like I was wondering for Savanna’s sake. No harm, no foul.
I’ve got my top halfway off when there’s a commotion in the hallway. Tiptoeing to the doorway, I peer through the peephole to find Liam, Brody, and Nate all bowled over. Their fits of giggles and chuckles tells me they’re as plastered as we are. Biting down on my lip, I watch them all try to hush each other which causes them all to bust into more laughter. It has me laughing behind the safety of my door.
Maybe it’s better that Liam didn’t text me back. Whiskey dick is a real thing.
