I kiss her blood-stained lips. We’re like feral monsters fucking like we’ll never have sex again. I stroke fast and deep inside her addictive walls. I squeeze her ass so tight I know I’ll leave bruises. These are good bruises from our passionate fucking.
“Nico,” she roars. Her voice echoing throughout the arena.
“Serenity, you’re mine forever,” I yell at the top of my lungs.
I don’t care who hears us. My wife and I need this.
“Yes, I am all yours, baby.” Her fingers thread the back of my hair as she rotates her hips.
“Oh, this dick is so good,” she moans. “I’ll kill any bitch who tries to touch what’s mine.”
“I don’t doubt it, princess.” I chuckle.
We’ve gotten rid of all her enemies now. There’s one more man I have to kill for touching her. Kobe.
He’s disappeared. Not to worry. I’ll find him. And when I do, he’ll die by my hands, too.
Later, I surprise my wife with a special dinner with our friends Rocco and Ryah. It’s one hell of a night. One we’ll never forget.
SERENITY
I hadn’t taken my meds. Not from unwillingness, but because everything that had happened lately had consumed me. The wedding, the honeymoon, protecting our son, the war, and confronting our enemies. Nico and I finally forgave each other for the wounds we’d inflicted. Yet, the idea of being a pregnant Donna and falling into the hands of new foes pushed me over the edge. “They could come for us” played on an endless loop in my mind, and I must have said it aloud so many times that my psychiatrist was called in. I constantly worried about how my security team would view me. Fitz always showed me compassion.
My team, who had stood by me for five years, had never seen me unravel like this. Nana was the one who always talked me down. I know now I need to speak openly with my team—this is who I am, and their duty is to respect me and protect my family. The way Nico looked at me after my psychiatrist left soothed me even more. This man loves me, crazy and all. Now that I’m back on my meds, my mind is clearer. If any of our enemies come for us, I’ll be ready to fight for my family just like I did before. I refuse to hide from the world any longer. That’s no life for my son or the children we’ll have in the future.
Nico outdid himself, surprising me with an unexpected paintball fight. And shooting darts at our target, the football superstar/ rapist was epic. Taking down Chris side by side sent a rush of excitement through me.
The highlight of the day was dinner at Rocco and Ryah’s stunning home. Rocco couldn’t keep his hands off Ryah, just as Nico couldn’t keep his eyes—or hands—off me. Their two kids were staying with Rocco’s parents for the night. Ryah and I shared a quiet conversation about the constant worry over our children’s safety. She told me to imagine being Sierra, the head Donna, responsible for a small army of kids to protect. Yet they manage it all. I know spending more time with the other wives soon will help ease my anxiety.
Afterwards, the four of us headed to a nightclub. It felt good hanging out with another mafia couple. I love that Rocco calls Ryah princess, too. It’s a cute nickname me and my new bestie and I share. Nico and I are already looking forward to hosting them for dinner at our home next month.
On the helicopter ride home, Nico’s arms wrap tightly around me, holding me close. I gaze up at his handsome face and gently run my hand along his bearded jaw. “Thank you, Nico.”
He gives my hip a comforting squeeze.
“For everything,” I whisper.
His deep brown eyes sparkle. “You’re welcome, baby.”
In this moment, I feel complete—safe, cherished, and deeply loved.
NICO
TWO WEEKS LATER
I sit on the vanity in our ensuite bathroom while my wife pees on a stick.
“You’re really going to sit here and wait?” She asks.
“Yes. I plan to be here every step of the way this time.”
She laughs. “Okay.”
Serenity is doing better. She explained later that night what caused the psychotic break. She thought about my enemies coming for her while she was pregnant. That trauma is unfortunately forever with us. As long as we have each other, we’ll weather this storm.
Serenity finishes on the toilet, caps the pregnancy test, and leaves it on the counter. She steps beside me, turns on the faucet, and washes her hands. I set the timer on my phone for five minutes.
Madden is a happy little boy. He loves his mommy so much. It warms my heart how he tells her he’ll always protect her. There’s no doubt in my mind he will.
