I can’t stand lying to my wife. This is what I have to do until our son is under our roof.

“I hate to do this, but twice a day I’ll need to take thirty-minute calls to talk to my team.”

Her smile withers. “I understand. I’ll talk to my bodyguards, too. We’ll need to make sure we’re in front of the problem before we return home.”

Fuck, she’s perfect. My lips press against hers. “I always knew you were the woman for me.”

People peek at us in passing.

She chuckles. “Yup, I am.”

“It’s a good thing we’re on our honeymoon because I plan to fuck you as soon as we get to the villa.”

Her eyes dart to the cashier waiting to help us.

“I can’t wait either.” Her lips brush mine before she pulls back.

“What cigars did you decide on?”

“I hadn’t yet.” I lift a finger, gaining the cashier’s attention.

He steps closer. “How can I help you?”

“I read about this store online. I understand you have the best premium cigars.”

“We do.” He grins before turning to unlock the glass cabinet.

He pulls out a variety of cigars. I inhale each one and settle on what I’m purchasing.

“I hope the cherry vanilla cigar tastes as good as it smells,” Serenity says.

“I do, too.”

The second we’re in the car, Serenity samples one of the island snacks. She looks satisfied. It’s weird to see Serenity smile so much in the span of three days. Serenity always appeared sad and only gave a ghost of a smile. I can’t wait until this war is over. My wife deserves to live the soft life. Just because she can go to battle doesn’t mean she has to. I plan to make her happy for the rest of our days.

Chapter Nineteen

SERENITY

We took in the city upon arrival. I enjoyed walking and shopping among the other tourists.

Not sure why I thought Nico wouldn’t discuss business on our honeymoon. I can’t complain. He hadn’t been on the phone until today. The mention of talking to his men at home reminded me we were in a honeymoon bubble and the world didn’t stop moving because of us. The war would happen the moment we returned to the States.

My jaw is on the floor as we walk into the villa.

“The pictures online of the hut villas don’t do them justice,” I say as I saunter deeper inside.

There’s a full-service chef’s kitchen, a living room, an oversized bedroom with an ensuite. While Nico takes his business calls this week, I’ll camp out in the bathroom and FaceTime Madden.

The standalone large white tub with the teal inside begs for me to climb in and take a bubble bath. Later tonight, Nico and I will take one. There are two other bathrooms for our staff anda second bedroom near the front entrance. I stroll through the spacious villa and take in the view from every side.

“The view is breathtaking,” I say.

Nico slips his arms around my body from behind and rests his chin on my head. “It is.”

“I love that the doors disappear inside the walls. Let’s keep this one balcony door open tonight.”

“Of course,” he agrees.
