We continue talking about school and sports over dinner. Once I relax, the night goes by easier.

Later, we enter the suite; Nico slips off his suit jacket.

“How about we play one video game?”

I smile. “I haven’t played in a long time.”

He points at me as he walks over to the game console. “Good, that means you’re rusty.”

“I think I can still kick your ass,” I say, kicking off my heels near the door.

A chill shoots through my body. I reach for my coat, since most of my shopping bags are in the SUV.

“There’s a sweatshirt in my duffel bag. I’ll grab it.”

“Nico, I’m sure there’s an extra blanket in the closet.”

He ignores what I said and retrieves it, anyway. “Here’s a pair of basketball shorts, too.”

“I’ll put on the PJs you bought after I shower.”

“Put them on for now.” He steps closer and unzips the tiny dress.

He doesn’t move while I let the dress fall to the floor, pooling around my feet. I’m not wearing a bra. His tongue slicks over his lips as he stares at my perky tits. His eyes tell me he wants me. I notice the longing in his whiskey-colored eyes. He needs me. Something’s going on with Nico.

I kick the dress aside and pull the boxers over my silk panties. The silence between us isn’t uncomfortable. It showcases our desire for each other.

Once I slip on the sweatshirt, he smirks like he’s satisfied.

“I can turn up the heat.”

“I’m fine for now,” I tell him.

I dart to the minibar and pour three fingers of whiskey into two glasses. Nico sits on the sofa in his undershirt and boxers. I sink beside him, place our glass tumblers on the table, and pick up a controller.

“Mortal Kombat, huh?”

“Yup.”

“I’m feeling this. The game might help with some of my pent-up frustrations.”

Nico scoops up his drink and gulps down half the contents. “I plan to fuck your pinned-up frustrations out of you later.” He winks.

I chuckle. “We’ll see.”

He places the glass back on the table. His hand slides across my leg. “I haven’t let you down thus far.”

“Cocky asshole.”

He laughs as he presses a button on the controller, starting the game. I miss playing him under my secret profile. Should I tell him we’d been playing against each other online over the years?

Naw. It’s nice sitting next to him and enjoying each other’s company like friends. Not enemies. I admit being enemies is exhausting. You’re always on the defensive.

I tap the controller a few times, and my character Kitana does a double roundhouse kick in the air. Her foot whacks Goro across his face. He tries to grab my leg with one of his many arms. I toss two fans in his direction. His body drops to the ground in chunks. “Yes!” I yell.

Nico waves his controller in the air angrily. “Serenity, what the fuck?”

I fall back onto the sofa, laughing.
