His brows popped wide. “What’s with the attitude?”

“At this stage of pregnancy, you really have to ask?”

He grinned. “Oh, I knowwhyyou’re expressing your attitude. I just wondered what had happened to cause it.”

I sighed. “I’m sorry, but I’m stressed about this assignment for one of my art classes.”

“What can I do to help?”

Shaking my head, I replied, “No. It’s okay. You go on and meet your brothers.”

Leo slid an arm around my waist, drawing me against him. “Not if my wife needs me.”

“That’s really sweet of you to offer, but I really don’t think you can help.”

“I’m an ideas guy, so you can run some ideas past me.”

“Basically, I’m just supposed to capture the essence of a living form.”

“Sounds a little broad to me.”

I laughed. “Which is why I’m wigging out. I thought about borrowing Cannoli from Maeve.”

I absolutely adored the dachshund that Rafe and Maeve had just adopted. Well, it wasn’t so much they adopted her as one of Rafe’s old bodyguards was dying, and he needed someone to take his dog.

“I’m sure she wouldn’t mind.”

“At the same time, I feel bad asking because I still feel so guilty about what Father did to Murphy.”

“You know how she feels about that.”

Chewing on my thumbnail, I replied, “It still feels awkward somehow.”

“How about drawing a person?”

Slowly, I nodded my head. “You’re right. Maeve would make a beautiful subject.”

Leo grinned. “I was talking about me.”

“But I drew you before.”

“That was just between us.”

“You really wouldn’t mind sitting for me today?”

“As long as you reward me afterwards.”

I laughed at his cheekiness. “I suppose I could throw a blow job your way.”

“Then I’m your man.”

“What are you going to tell your brothers?”

“That I’m abandoning them for the promise of pussy later.”

I shrieked in horror. “Leo!”

He laughed. “Trust me. They’d do the same.”
