“Repulsed.”

“You being repulsed by other women interacting with me is jealousy, amore mia,” he said, walking closer to me.

I rolled my eyes yet again, and he murmured, “I prefer your eye rolls in a different, more intimate setting, tesoro.”

Ignoring him, I finally ask, “Why is there a Mouawad 1001 Nights Diamond Purse at my doorstep?”

“Oh,” he answered nonchalantly. “You got the gift, great, and it’s at the doorstep because it’s yours.”

“Why?”

“Why not?” he retorted.

“It’s too much,” I whispered breathlessly.

It was all too much.

Too expensive.

Too thoughtful.

Too fucking perfect.

“It’s not enough,” he said, and I looked at him blankly. What does he mean?

“Ro-”

He shushed me and took a seat on the handle of the seat I was sitting in. “You’re a fashion designer. That’s a designer bag. Designer bags are in your forte…” he trailed off, and I looked up at him.

“It is at least two million euros.”

Even saying it aloud sounded fucking insane.

“Four million euros,” he corrected, and my blood pressure skyrocketed. “I got it for you from an auction. It’s insured as well.”

Four million euros.

The figure kept ringing in my head over and fucking over again.

“Ronan…”

“I don’t understand. I thought you’d love it,” he whispered, a sadness creeping into his voice.

“No, no, no, I do love it,” I corrected him quickly. “It’s… a lot.”

“Four million euros is nothing to spend on you. I’ll make it back in the next twenty minutes or so, but you are far more valuable and far more remarkable than that. What is four million dollars compared to you?”

I knew his statement was rhetorical, but I couldn’t help but answer, “It’s so much.”

“Sbagliato,74” he answered, his tone laced with fury. “It’s nothing compared to you. Neither blue diamonds nor pearls are worth as much as you are to me, Nina. No gem, no matter how rare, could ever hold a candle to the light you bring into my life.”

My breath caught in my throat once again, and I was in a puddle.

Not just any puddle.

A Ronan Romano-induced puddle.

“Ronan,” I sighed, and he placed his palms on my face, lifting my chin.
