“Oh, yeah. Let me run back into the kitchen and go get it. Drink up.” As soon as he stepped out of the room, I leaned over and poured more than half of the water underneath the bed, then pretended to wipe my mouth when he re-entered the room.

“Damn, you must’ve been thirsty,” he said with a smile as he walked over with my purse in his hand.

“Yeah. Would you mind bringing me another one? I promise I won’t ask you for anything else.”

“I got you. I’ll be right back.” He winked before leaving the room. I waited a few seconds and then dumped the rest of the water under the bed.

I hurriedly retrieved my phone and sent a text to Logic. I didn’t have time to say much, so I simply said 911.

I sent the same message in the group chat before Damacio re-entered the room.

“Alright, I got you another water and a slice of pizza. I’m gonna chill in the living room for a little bit, but I’ll be back in a few minutes. If you need something, let me know.”

I gave him a simple head nod and watched as he left the room.

When I reopened my phone, I saw that my messages had still only been delivered in the group chat. I assumed it would be the same for Logic, but I got the shock of my life when I saw the message had been read. Bubbles flashed on the screen, but then they disappeared. I waited to see what he would say next, but he said nothing. After a few minutes had passed and I still hadn’t heard anything from him, I decided to send him another message.

Me: I got myself into a fucked up situation, and I’m scared. I don’t know whether to call the police or try to find a way out. I’m freaking out.

I was hours away from home, so there wasn’t much he could do, but since he and East conducted business out here, I thought maybe someone close by could help. I was always taught not to call the cops growing up, but I had a daughter to think about.

My phone showed that he had read the message, and the bubbles popped up yet again. When he finally responded, his message left me with more questions than answers, but I decided to do what he said.

Big Brudder LJ: Delete this.

Oddly enough, I breathed a sigh of relief. For as long as I could remember, Keynauri, Logic, and East were my protectors. I never had to worry about whether or not I could talk big shit on the playground because I knew I had them to back me up. Evenafter Keynauri was locked up, his boys made sure that I was taken care of.

Life hadn’t been easy for me over the last few years, and there were times when I thought about ending it all, but I could never say that the men in my life weren’t in my corner.

I groaned internally as I thought about East and the way he would react. He wasn’t happy about me going on this trip to begin with, and this would only add fuel to the fire. Honestly, I didn’t care if he gave me one million lectures as long as I made it out of this situation. Some lessons you had to learn for yourself, and I would never make this mistake again. I was too busy trying to prove to East that I was grown and could move on with someone else, but it wasn’t worth it in the end. All I wanted to do was crawl into the bed with him and my baby girl and never leave the house again.

I heard what sounded like knocking, so I got up from the bed. Instead of using the sheet to cover me, I sifted through Damacio’s luggage and grabbed a T-shirt and a pair of hoop shorts.

“Lyric!” I heard my name being called, but it wasn’t being called by who I expected. Nevertheless, I hauled ass and stepped out of the room. Summyah and Kiara were both in the doorway, but it looked like Damacio was blocking them from coming in.

“What’s going on?” I asked, staggering closer to where they were. My legs were still wobbly, but I wasn’t gonna let it stop me. I was determined to get out of there one way or the other.

“Hey, baby. I was just telling your friends you were asleep and that they didn’t need to come get you. I plan to drop you off at the Airbnb in the morning so that you can catch your flight. For some reason, they were worried about you, but I assured them you were okay.” Damacio tried to hide his annoyance, but he wasn’t very good at it.

“Actually, I’m gonna go with them. We have a long day ahead of us, and I really need to get some rest.” I pretended to yawn, raising my arms over my head. I had no idea how they got to me so quickly, but I knew better than to question my blessings.

“I thought you were going to spend the rest of the night with me? We have plans, remember?” Damacio insisted.

His jaw flexed, but I paid him no mind. All I could think about was getting out of this suite and away from these creepy ass motherfuckers.

“I’m not feeling very well, and I have medicine at the Airbnb. We’ll have to do this another time,” I lied.

“Man, this is some bullshit. Hurry up and get your shit and get the fuck out of here. That’s what I get for tricking off on the wrong bitch.” He fumed.

“I don’t know what the hell your problem is, but you might want to rethink your attitude. We were sent in here to get her, and that was for your protection, not hers. Now move your big musty ass out of our way so we can get our friend and get the fuck out of here.” Summyah spoke through gritted teeth. Both she and Kiara were dressed in pajamas with scarves tied around their heads. Valor was nowhere in sight, but I didn’t question it too much. Damacio gave me an icy glare but turned his attention to Summyah.

“Bitch, do you know who I am?” Damacio spat.

“Aye, are you having a problem with these bitches, bro?” Rommel inquired as he stepped behind me with Jeremiah standing next to him.

“Please don’t let this pretty face fool you. I’m with all the bullshit, and I’m not in the mood. Let our friend go, and you won’t have any problems. For now,” Kiara warned with her hand resting on her crossbody Coach bag. Kiara was known for fighting grown men and beating their asses, so it was in his best interest to take heed.

“Bitch, have you lost your mind? Who the fu—” Those were the last words Rommel was able to get out before Kiara reached into her purse and proceeded to mace all three of the men. I covered my face with my T-shirt once I realized what was going on. Everything happened so fast as the men fell to the ground, writhing in pain.
