East could only stand to be out for so long. That was the reason we rarely went out together. He was ready to go within the first hour, while I liked to stay until the club closed.
I got ready to respond when I saw Donnika try to sit in my man’s lap. East quickly moved his legs, making her fall to the floor. All I saw was red, but there was nothing I could do, because Keynauri was sitting right next to him. East might have been nonchalant about my brother finding out about us, but I didn’t share those sentiments. Keynauri was extremely overprotective, and I knew he would have an issue with me being with one of his best friends. Eventually, we would have to come clean, but he was fresh out, and it wasn’t the right time. I sent a message to East, but his response pissed me off.
Me: You better not have let that hoe sit in your lap. The next time a hoe touches you, I’ma show my ass.
Lil’ Ugly BD: Come do yo’ shit then. You walkin’ around here actin’ like I ain’t yo man. Why do you care?
I saw the grin on his face and knew he was trying to set me up.
Me: Play with me if you want to, and I’ma find someone’s lap to sit on. You know this liquor makes me horny, don’t make me show you how single I can be.
When I glanced up, I saw him looking around for me. When his eyes landed on mine, he mouthed the words, “I’ma fuck you up.” My coochie thumped in response, but I tried to keep my face neutral.
Summyah and I decided to get back to dancing after we took another round of shots. Donnika and her bitches were trying their hardest to get attention. It was almost embarrassing. When she bumped into me, I pushed her ass back.
“Bitch, keep your dirty hands to yourself.”
“I got your bitch. You must want my attention because there was plenty of room for you to move around. What? You want to sit on my lap since my nigga curved your thirsty ass?” I hissed.
“Thirsty? Oh, please. You stay posting him, but I never see him posting you. Trust me, if you weren’t around, he would have been all in my face. Niggas like him don’t have a faithful bone in their bodies, and your young ass doesn’t know how to handle a man like him. He’ll eventually get bored with you and move on to something better,” Donnika shot back.
“I’m not worried about anyone taking my place, but even if my man did decide to fuck another bitch, I can guarantee it won’t be you. He doesn’t like ran-through bitches, and he definitely doesn’t like musty ones. You’re doing all that shit talking, and you smell like you’ve been bathing in onions. You need to add the aluminum back into your deodorant. Rotten-pussy hoe. My brother just got released from prison, but I don’t mind being the next one to go in.”
“Well, I’m sure he’ll be right back in. He was in there so long, I’m sure he probably has a little boyfriend in there. He was probably in there taking dick the same way you were taking your stepfath—”
My fist connected with her face, and I didn’t let up until someone lifted me off of her. She ripped the bottom of my top, but it wasn’t bad enough for me to leave.
“Aye. What the fuck was that all about?” Keynauri yelled in my face.
“I tried to let it go, but she wouldn’t stop pressing me.”
“You’ve gotta be smarter than that. All it takes is one wrong decision, and it could cost you everything. You have a daughter to live for. It’s time out for that hotheaded shit,” he fussed.
“She was talking shit about you being in prison, and when she brought up Tone, I lost it. I’m sorry. You know I wasn’t tryna ruin your night.” I hugged myself as I focused on the floor like a child who was in trouble.
“Come here.” Keynauri wrapped his arms around me, almost making me break down in the club. “You don’t need to fight anymore. I’m here now. Let me carry the weight from now on.”
I nodded my head, realizing he made a valid point. My anger got me into a lot of messes, and I needed to learn how to control myself. A part of me wanted to ask where East was, but I didn’t want to out myself. Instead, I pretended everything was okay and tossed back another shot. Keynauri gave me a questioning look, but I promised him I would be on my best behavior.
East eventually returned to the section and took his seat next to my brother. Keynauri was more of an observer, so I wasn’t shocked to see him sitting down. He was more than likely taking it all in and reflecting on being free. Summyah grabbed my hand again, and we attempted to salvage the rest of the night. I hyped her up while she twerked in front of me. We continued with our night until we were both tipsy and giggling. When they played another banger by Meg, I threw my ass back like I was taking back shots.
The liquor had me feeling leveled, which was exactly what I needed. Keynauri’s return had been so emotional, but I wanted to put all those emotions behind me and enjoy the moment. My brother was finally free, and no one would ever be able to separate us again.
“Damn, ma. You throwing that shit!” I heard a deep voice call out from behind me. When I glanced back and saw who it was, I smirked. His name was Trill Lex, and he was a local rapper who performed at the clubs I hosted at. I saw him watching me a few times, but he never approached me before.
“See something you like?” I cooed, knowing I was playing with fire.
“Hell yeah. You’re beautiful, and your body is out of this world. I see you on the club scene all the time, but every time I try to get close to you, I’m being pulled in a different direction. I guess today is my lucky day.” Trill rubbed his hands together, licking his lips at the same time.
I could admit he was attractive, but I loved my men chocolate. Plus, he was way too flashy for me. His neck had to have been heavy with all of the chains he had on. I counted five, not including the Cuban links. Then there were six rings on his finger. It reminded me of those people at the flea markets who put multiple watches on their arms to sell.
“What’s up with you? You tryna kick it with a real boss-ass nigga? I can tell whoever you’re with must not have any real bread, ’cause you should be dripping in diamonds.”
My eyes were glued to his grill. I never understood why people got them when their teeth were crooked, but I couldn’t pull my eyes away.
“Is there a problem?” I heard from behind me. For some reason, I expected him not to say anything because my brother was around, but he proved me wrong yet again.
“Aye, bro, you gotta wait your turn,” Trill spat, pulling me closer to him. I jerked my arm out of his grasp because it was clear he had lost his mind.
