“You don’t need a guard dog, you have me,” Ryan rumbled.
I raised a brow toward Mason, who was suppressing a smile. Clearly, his friend had had a change of heart. Hopefully he was ready for a fight, because Lily was going to give him one.
“You’re annoying,” Lily grumbled, reinforcing my train of thought.
“We’ll just take Kodi and be on our way.” I smiled as Mason grabbed the dog bed and Kodi’s food Lily had put on the front porch. “Drinks tomorrow?” I raised a brow.
She nodded. “Definitely. Your place or mine?”
“Well, actually,” I began, unsure how our friends would take our news. “Mason and I agreed to move in together,” I explained, “so if it’s my place, my address has changed.” I braced for her reaction.
I should have known she’d be nothing but supportive.
She beamed before wrapping me up in a hug. “That’s amazing! Congratulations. And hell yes, we’re having drinks at your place. Your massive mansion of a place,” she amended, clapping her hands in glee.
“What time?” Ryan wanted to know.
“You’re not invited,” she shot over her shoulder at him. “It’s girl time.”
He shrugged, unperturbed by her ire. “I’ll drop you off and hang with Jackson. Then I’ll take you home.”
“We’ll leave you two to sort your shit,” Mason put in. “Gotta get my girl home.”
“This is so much more entertaining than sleep,” I protested.
“Come on, baby,” he coaxed as he opened the hatch and Kodi jumped inside.
“Oh, fine,” I sighed, taking his hand as he guided me back to the passenger side. “Call me if you need me, see you tomorrow.” I waved to Lily as Mason guided me into the Rover.
“Well, that was interesting,” I muttered as we pulled away from the curb.
“Looks like Ryan straightened his shit out,” Mason commented.
“It won’t be easy,” I fretted.
“Ryan’s not afraid of hard work,” Mason assured me. “They’ll be fine, baby. Let’s focus on it being our first night with the same address.”
Now that, I could do.
* * *
I awoke the next morning, on the brink of orgasm with Mason’s head between my legs. I gasped, my hands grasping his head, urging him on as I cried out his name.
Clearly, my man was happy to be under the same roof, if the five times he’d taken me the night before and this morning had anything to say about it.
When he slowly moved up my body, kissing his way up to my neck, his expression warm and satisfied, he lay down beside me and pulled me into his body.
I breathed him in deep, enjoying the scent of him and of us mixed together.
“Movers will be here soon,” he rumbled.
“That was quick.” I laughed, though I wasn’t surprised. Nor was I remotely resistant. I was more than ready. “What are we going to do about my lease? It’s not up for another four months.”
He shrugged. “I’ll take care of it. If we can’t break it, I’ll just pay for it.”
“Okay,” I agreed.
He pulled back, eyeing me in surprise. “You’re not going to argue with me?”
