Our first time, I knew he’d been holding back, and I welcomed his loss of control now, of the rawness of him still dressed, unable to take the moment required to take off his clothes.
“You’re close,” he grunted. “Need you to get there.”
I nodded. “I just need….” I trailed off, not sure what I needed. And then his hand was between my legs, playing me like an instrument, knowing better than I did what type of touch I needed to send me over—and send me over it did.
I cried out so loud, I was sure the neighbors heard as he emptied himself inside me with a guttural groan.
“Did we break the couch?” I wondered as he pulled back, sitting up on the couch and guiding me to straddle his legs.
“Don’t think so, but I’ll take that challenge,” he replied as he stroked my back.
“I’ll make a mess of your jeans,” I protested, gesturing to the wetness coating my thighs.
“Fuck, that’s hot.” He groaned, pressing me closer, obviously not caring in the least. “If you won’t let me take you out—I’m picking up dinner,” he decreed as he nuzzled my neck. “Why don’t you call it in? I’m good with any toppings as long as there’s no fruit or fish on my pizza.”
“Got it. One pineapple and anchovy pizza coming right up,” I teased, earning a smack to my backside as I rose to slide my jeans back on. He looked up at me hungrily.
“Fuck, but you are the sexiest woman I’ve ever laid eyes on,” he murmured appreciatively.
I picked up my phone with a pleased grin, scrolling to my favorite pizza place, ignoring the texts I’d been getting from my girlfriends wondering what I was up to, if I wanted to come to the club. I knew I couldn’t ignore them forever, but for now, I wanted to maintain our blissful cocoon.
“Lock the door after me,” Ruston ordered as he pulled his leather cut on and grabbed his keys and wallet a few minutes later.
“I will.” I rolled my eyes at his bossiness as he stepped into my space, taking my mouth in a kiss far too delicious to be so short.
“Better make sure I feed you so you have energy for me later,” he growled against my mouth.
“That won’t be a problem,” I replied breathlessly, unabashed to admit my lust. It was a mutual affliction, of that I was sure.
“Fuck, you’re amazing,” he groaned, pulling himself away, and with another finger toward the lock on the door, reminding me to lock it, he strode out to his bike.
In the silence that followed, I stood rooted to the spot, unsure what to do with myself. With him gone, it almost felt as though it was all a dream.
When my phone rang, Wren’s name flashing on the screen, I knew I needed to face reality. It was either that or have unexpected visitors.
“Hey,” I greeted her as I moved around the house, tidying up.
“Oh, so you’re alive,” she quipped.
“Alive and well,” I assured her.
“There’s a meet at the club tonight; you gonna head over?”
“Not tonight,” I declined, knowing it wouldn’t end there. It was rare I didn’t show when everyone else was gathering. I much preferred company to being alone, and she knew it.
“Well, heads up that the guys want a meet with Ruston, but it sounds like he’s checked out of the hospital. Bit of a mystery where he is, and I thought you might know something about that?” she mused.
I groaned. “Did Emmie rat me out?”
She gave a jubilant little whoop of victory. “No, she didn’t. Doesn’t take a detective, Grace.” She snorted playfully. “I take it he doesn’t have a girlfriend?”
“No—well, I think he does now,” I shared hesitantly. “That before was a misunderstanding.”
“I’m glad,” she murmured sincerely. “I get if you’re not ready to broadcast things to Cole—he’s worse than my dad, and that’s saying something.”
Her dad, Sal, one of my dad’s best friends, hadn’t necessarily made it easy when Max had made his intentions clear with Wren. But they’d worked it out eventually, after a few punches were thrown.
I winced at the memory.
