“Iwon’t.”
“Be careful.”
“Fine.”
He bent like he wanted to kiss me, but I turned away.
Why should I forgive Abraham O’Sullivan?
Mac and Fizz wheeled Abraham’s motorcycle down from the truck and he took off.
I watched the way the sun highlighted his tanned skin and broad shoulders until he disappeared into the distance.
“Is there really bad blood between Legends and Wheelers?” I asked nervously.
“Not been any murders in a few decades,” Fizz said cheerfully, which did not make me feel better.
What if they killed Abraham?
My god, I might be furious with this man, but he was really putting himself in harm’s way just to get my forgiveness.
“If there’s any border challenges it usually comes from them,” Mac added.
But the longer we waited, the more nervous I got.
“Never known Bones to come out the wrong end of a fight,” Fizz said. “Maybe once or twice when he was just a kid, but not by the time he’d shot up to damn near 7 feet tall.”
“What happened with his father?” I asked into the silence.
Fizz shifted. “Now that ain’t my story to tell why it happened. But I can assure you he killed his daddy good and proper.”
Abraham hadkilledhis father?
There were so many mysteries about him that I didn’t understand, and they all meant a relationship had never been a good idea.
“I need to go the bathroom,” I put in after a torturous hour of wondering if he was lying dead in a ditch, shot, or being tortured. “I’ll be right back.”
Mac scanned the parking lot.
There were some guys leaning on big bikes and smoking at the other end, but they didn’t have cuts, so hopefully they weren’t members of Wheelers MC, just guys out for a Sunday ride.
Nothing was amiss as I got out of the car, but I wished the women’s restroom wasn’t on the back of the welcome center.
I went in and used the facilities and everything still seemed normal.
But inside, I was boiling with uncertainty and confusion.
That look in Abraham’s eyes when I refused to kiss him had beenhaunted. From what I could gather, he had beenmessed upafter I left.
Then, suddenly, the restroom door slammed open.
Shit.
It was Abraham’s brother Grease. And he looked angry.
“Well, look who it is. My brother’s whore.”
“Get out of here!” I cried angrily.
