The sleek black car immediately pulled away from the curb.

Vincent's expression darkened.

"Dammit."

Without another thought, he strode toward his own car.

"Vincent!" Nolan called out as he hurried after him. "Are you seriously doing this?"

Vincent didn't answer. His long strides only quickened as he yanked open the driver's door and slid behind the wheel.

Nolan let out an exasperated sigh before climbing into the passenger seat.

The moment the door shut, Vincent started the engine and pulled into traffic, his eyes locked on the luxury car several cars ahead.

"You can't actually be planning to follow them," Nolan said as he fastened his seatbelt.

Vincent tightened his grip on the steering wheel.

"I just want to know who that man is."

Nolan snorted and leaned back in his seat. "Sure. And I'm the King of England."

Vincent shot him a cold look.

"I'm not jealous."

"Of course not," Nolan replied dryly. "You're only chasing your ex through half the city because you're concerned about public safety."

Vincent ignored him and pressed harder on the accelerator.

Chapter 29 Moving On

Several cars ahead, Cassian glanced casually into the rearview mirror. The moment he spotted the familiar car trailing behind them, the corners of his lips slowly lifted.

"So he followed us after all."

Juliet, who had been scrolling through her phone, looked up. "Who?"

Cassian rested one arm against the window while steering with the other.

"Vincent."

Juliet rolled her eyes and leaned back against her seat.

"He's ridiculous."

Cassian glanced at her briefly before reaching over and squeezing her hand once.

Inside Vincent's car, the atmosphere grew increasingly tense.

Neither man spoke for several minutes.

Vincent kept his eyes fixed on the car ahead, his expression growing darker with every passing second.

Eventually, Nolan looked out the window and frowned.

"Wait."
