Nia lifted her hands in surrender. “Okay, dang.”

“What’s up?” Jahreiah quizzed, as she turned around and closed the gap between us.

Not giving a fuck about a audience, I hooked a arm around her shoulder, pulling her in. “You know I don’t like that friendly shit.” I guided her away from the gym.

“I wasn’t being friendly,” she claimed.

“Well, that whole conversation went on for too long. You gotta shut these niggas down, shorty. Otherwise, I’ma get suspended left and right. Facts.”

“No you won’t.” She leaned her head against me, and wrapped an arm around my waist, as we traveled down the hall. “Because I’m not letting you crash out like that.” She lifted her head and gazed up at me. “You just gotta get it through your head that you have nothing to worry about.” She reached up, grabbed the back of my neck, pulling me closer, before working her tongue into my mouth.

I could feel all eyes on us, as we made out in the middle of the hallway…and I guess that was our introduction to the school as a couple. And now, those thirsty niggas were officially on notice. Even as we were dragging our feet about telling our family.

Chapter 5

Okay, so it was me, Jahreiah, Jahrae, JJ, their girlfriends, Jahlero, Jaylah, Jahrein Junior, his girl Josairah, her brother Monster, Jeremy Junior, his twin Jared, their brother Jerrod, their girls, their cousin Chubby, his girl Cocoa, Jahreiah’s cousins Keyasia, Lil’ Kevin, and their spouses, Jahreiah’s uncle, Lil’ Ray, who was just a few years older than us, their cousin Lil Jaylen…lowkey it was weird how a few of them had the same names, because Jahreiah also had a brother named Jaylen, as well as an uncle. Plus, Jaylah was named after her granny. Jahreiah said that whenever that happened it meant that her daddy had lost a bet with his brother and had to name a baby after whatever name he decided, but moving along. There was their cousin Rye…who unintentionally ended up with cousin Jaylen…who was technically her step-nephew/step-cousin or some shit.

Long story short, there was a gang of us. Jahrein Junior was a huge NBA superstar, while Jeremy Junior was in the fucking NFL. So, there was long money amongst the crew. They had assistants, and three drivers to handle the luxury RVs we were using to go camping.

In total, there were four RVs headed to a camping site for what Jahrein Junior was calling a sibling and cousin camp. A party planner had spearheaded the entire thing, and I was in awe with the experience, thus far.

“Yo, I thought that you were in a RV?” Sunny chattered, as we were on a Facetime call.

I smirked. “I am.”

“But it’s a whole kitchen behind you. Shit looks nice too.”

I briefly glanced over my shoulder, like I hadn’t already checked out the stainless-steel appliances, island, and expensive cabinetry. “Yeah, it is nice. Lil’ Jah’s peoples got us in this fancy shit. Each RV looks like this. Plush shit,” I yawned, as I had my feet propped up on a ottoman in front of the couch I was lounging on.

Sunny squinted. “Bro, is that Jahreiah sleeping on ya shoulder?”

I licked my lips, as I cut my eyes to her sleeping face. “Of course.”

“Word? So, everybody knows now?”

I sighed. “I wouldn’t say that. But the old heads stayed back in Houston. So, we laxed like a mafucka. Word to my mother.”

Sunny chuckled. “Yo, I get it. You moved out there to be with your shorty. And everybody’s paid out there. It’s the life, yo. And…I regret not leaving with you. So, I finally told moms that I’m moving too.”

My smile widened. “No, shit?”

“Yea. She was all crying and shit, but I aint hearing her, yo. Cause I overheard her talking to Aunt Des and she was saying that I wasn’t moving because she needs the income. Pops probably won’t keep sending the money if we’re both in Houston.”

Hearing that, I shook my head. However, I wasn’t surprised. Moms did rely heavily on the bread my pops sent. But at our ages, it shouldn’t have been our responsibility to worry about her stability. People were always telling her to go get a real job, but she preferred working at the bars, because she could still party at the same time. Moms loved to be outside and I’m sure that a nice portion of the money she received was usedon her upkeep, as she was known as one of the flyest dressers in Brooklyn. We were tied directly into her livelihood, and had been getting the shorter end of the stick.

With moms’ mismanagement of money, we were still in the hood, while our pops lived in a gated community. For obvious reasons, it was far more beneficial to live with pops, and I was honestly done doing what was best for my moms. She was still young, and could definitely fend for herself.

“Yo, that’s wild, but I’m glad that you finally woke up. When are you coming?” I questioned.

“Next week. I called pops and he already has everything handled.”

I nodded.

“Yea, and pops was telling me how you’reneverhome. He said that you practically moved in at the Braxton’s.”

I smirked. “You know how he exaggerates. I usually come home late in the evenings. I’ve just been training for this amateur fight that Big Jah got lined up next month.”

Sunny frowned. “After knocking out a whole champion, he wants you to fight a amateur?”
