“I need you to call him and tell him to stop trippin’ like you always do,” I replied. “Tell him to let me back in the house.”

“Nawl,” she said. “I can’t do that.”

My brows pulled together instantly. “And why the hell not? You my best friend. That’s what my best friends are supposed to do.”

She ain’t answer right away. I heard her laugh softly, and that shit instantly rubbed me the wrong way.

“Am I really your best friend?” she finally asked.

I frowned. “Yeah. What the fuck kind of question is that?”

“You know exactly what I mean.”

My jaw tightened.

“Sianni, what the hell? You’ve been letting Kyrie get in your ear, haven’t you?”

“No,” she replied calmly. “I don’t need anybody in my ear. I’ve just been peeping shit.”

I sucked my teeth loudly. “Sianni, we all know how you get when it comes to men.”

“Bitch!” she snapped so fast it almost made me pull the phone from my ear. “What the fuck is that supposed to mean? I’m not nothing when it comes to men. That’s you.”

I went quiet for a second, caught off guard. Sianni ain’t never talked to me like that before. Yeah, we'd argued, but her yelling? Calling me out of my name? That wasn’t her.

That nigga was changing her.

“It means exactly what I said,” I snapped back. “You did the same shit with Amani. He’d tell you something, and suddenly everything that nigga said was law.”

She laughed again, but this time it sounded dry and tired. That only pissed me off more.

“You think this shit funny, don’t you?” I hissed. “Just wait until that nigga gets tired of your ass and runs back to Marissa.”

The second those words left my mouth, the line went dead. I pulled the phone away from my ear and stared at it.

“Ain’t no fuckin’ way.”

I called back immediately. And it rang, then went straight to voicemail. I tried again, and it was the same shit. That hoe had blocked me.

“Shit,” I muttered under my breath, dragging my hand over my face.

I couldn’t even lie; I had let my mouth get the best of me, again. Taking a deep breath, I pulled up Amani’s number. I already knew calling him was probably pointless, but at that moment, he was the only option I had left.

The line rang for what seemed like forever before he finally answered on the fifth ring.

“Yo.”

“Mani, where you at?” I asked.

“I’m at a hotel,” he replied. “What do you want?”

The irritation in his voice instantly pissed me off.

“What the fuck you mean, ‘what I want’?”

“Like I said, shorty, what the fuck do you want?”

“I just got put out of my damn house because of you, and you’re asking me what I want?”
