‘Hey, you did that all by yourself, Mr. Vice President,’ Max smiled, bringing Channing in close and kissing him softly on his forehead.
‘Okay, sure. But thank you for being there for me and giving me the belief that I could do this,’ Channing said. ‘Not just confronting Kyle, but making my voice truly heard at work. I love yousomuch, Daddy! So much that my heart feels like it might explode and shoot out rainbows!’
‘And I love you,’ Max replied, planting a kiss on Channing’s soft lips. ‘Now, tell me something…’
‘Yes, Daddy?’ Channing replied, curiosity in his voice.
‘As VP, does that mean you can duck out of work for an hour or two?’ Max said, more than a hint of intrigue in his voice. ‘I’ve got a special surprise in store for you that I think you might just love.’
‘Well, it is my first day as VP,’ Channing said, a little uncertain. ‘But, yes, of course I can!’
As the pair of them walked away from the office, Max felt a warmth inside him that he hadn’t known in many, many years.
Without doubt, he had become the Daddy that deep down he always knew he was.
All that was left was to show Channing exactly what this surprise was.
And if Max knew Channing as well as he thought he did, there was no way that Channing was going to be anything less than incredibly excited about what was in store for the both of them…
Chapter 23
CHANNING
‘Okay, so feel free to see what this bad boy can do,’ Channing giggled, the sight of Max sitting in the driver’s seat of his new VP Tesla proving too good to not take a photo of. ‘Don’t worry, I won’t show this to any of your drag racing friends!’
Max rolled his eyes.
‘How about my Daddy friends?’ Max grunted.
‘Oh, they’re seeing this!’ Channing giggled. ‘And I’ll even take a paddling for it!’
‘Hmph. You’d better believe that,’ Max growled. ‘There’s no way this can make me feel like I do in arealcar…’
But Max very quickly changed his mind over the Tesla, rapidly realizing that when it came to acceleration, electric cars were no slouches.
‘Holy shit, that was insane,’ Max laughed, pulling the Tesla up as they drove into theBark Buddiesparking lot. ‘Now, about that surprise.’
Channing had a feeling he knew what was coming.
The closer they had gotten to the general direction of Bark Buddies, the stronger the feeling had grown.
Channing didn’t knowpreciselywhat Max had in store, but he could have taken a guess at this point.
‘Hmmmm. Anything you want to tell me?’ Channing said, smiling as the pair of them got out of the Tesla and made their way insideBark Buddies.
Max chuckled and put his arm around Channing.
‘Well you know that money I won for the drag race?’ Max said, his voice full of pride.
‘Yeah?’
‘Well, it’s no longer my money,’ Max said, beaming with pride. ‘It’sBark Buddies’smoney now.’
‘Wow! Are you serious, Daddy?’ Channing said, taken aback. ‘I was expecting a donation and a dog adoption. But this…’
‘You don’t think it’s sensible, right?’ Max said.
‘Well… yeah… I mean… actually, no. Iloveit!’ Channing said, his heart pounding in his chest. ‘You’re an incredible person, Daddy. I didn’t know if you’d change, but deep down you’ve always been this wonderful, kindhearted Daddy. Don’t ever change! Ever-ever-ever!’
