His mouth opened and closed over and over.

Red hair and a squeal as Hannah jumped in the pool. She was there before Tyler. There when they took the jello shots.Laughing.No longer was the sun responsible for the heat in my blood.

“Would you look at that, you were actually useful,” I sneered, fighting the urge to spit in his face.

“Courtney wait-”

But I was already running.

I dropped the food, lungs screaming as I tore up the stairs, not bothering to wait around in the lobby for the elevator.

“Courtney!”

My name yelled back at me in varying degrees of volume as it echoed through the stairwell, but I refused to stop. I’d destroy the bitch. She helped attack my love. She worked for them. She was the enemy and she’d die screaming.

I made it to the fourth floor when the bond lurched. The force of it brought me to my knees.Hard. I cried out, clutching my chest.

Something was wrong. Something was very, verywrong.

My ribs cramped, the bond yanking so violently that I slammed forward into the stairs. Despite the pain, I forced myself to my feet, clinging to the railing-

Hands clamped on my arms.

“I can’t let you go any further,” Vince panted in my ear. Jerked back into his chest, I struggled.

“Let me go!”

The bond burned like acid.

A sharp pain stabbed my back, between my ribs.

I screamed.

A hand clamped over my mouth.

I bit down.

“Fuck!”

Kicking, I ripped free, tripping on the landing.

One more staircase-

Another stab of fire in my back.

Another scream.

“Damnit,” Vince hissed as he grabbed me again. My vision flooded with black dots. I couldn’t stop screaming, even as his hand tried to muffle me again. The pain was everywhere. Too much.

Dying.

I was dying.

I didn’t know how or why, but I knew. Even if my physical body wasn’t bleeding, my lungs were filling with phantom liquid- coughing and coughing and coughing.

“What the fuck?” Vince demanded as I choked on air.

I closed my eyes.
