His mouth crashed into mine with renewed ferocity. “To know that was only mine,” he groaned, grinding his erection on my thigh through his jeans. I wanted to free him, taste him, give him what he gave me. Once again, he halted my wandering hands. “Impatient, little thing,” he chuckled into my neck. "I'm taking my time with you."
I wiggled in an attempt to bring him over me, but he clicked his tongue.
“Please,” I begged again. Each time I whined for him, the stronger my need to touch him grew until it was an all-consuming desire that threatened to tear me to shreds. He eased back, cocking his head and studying me. I struggled to his amusement against the invisible force pressing me to the mattress.
“You promised,” I hissed.
That only made him laugh.
“I did,” he murmured, his knee parting my thighs wider. “But I never said when.”
I huffed.TeasingBastard.
Hovering over me, he peeled my tank top up above my breasts, deft fingers unhooking my strapless bra and tossing it aside. For what felt like an eternity, he simply admired me. Vince had never done this; never seduced or learned or pleasured me. It'd always centered around him. Ollie wasn't concerned with himself, only me, and that increased the ache in my greedy body all over again.
He cupped my breast, brushing his thumb over my hard nipple and drawing a whimper from me. A feral grin on his lips, he dropped his mouth to it. Free of his unseen restraints, I wrapped my arms around his neck, fingers twined in his dirty blond hair and moaned. While I gave into him, a niggling milky white fog drifted into the edge of my vision.
No, no, not now. Not here. Not with him.
But my vision didn’t care. I opened my mouth to warn him, but the thick fog yanked me under.
My heart pounds so loud it’s a war drum. White noise roars, my eyes blur with burning tears. Tears that want to take the leap, but I refuse. I can’t show how much this destroys me. I refuse to admit I was a fool. Mom isn’t supposed to win. She’s supposed to be wrong.
But she isn’t wrong. Because my eyes don’t fool me.
In front of my tearful glare is Miranda standing on tip-toe, her hand pressed into his chest right over his heart as his eyes roll back.
“Courtney? Shit, come back to me,” Ollie pleaded. I blinked, eyes stinging as the fog dissipated to find myself cradled in his lap. He breathed a sigh of relief. “Fuck, you scared me. Your eyes went completely white.”
He was trembling.
But all I could see was Miranda offering him mind blowing highs and claiming him for herself while I stood aside, forgotten. I wasn’t wanted. He’d abandon me for her- she was like him after all. Powerful and beautiful. I was neither. Stones choked my throat as I self-consciously covered myself.
Confusion took over the panic in his face.
“Hey, what happened?” he murmured, voice soft and soothing. Alie. His hold tightened as I tried to pull away. “Talk to me,” he pleaded. “One minute you’re begging for more, the next you’re seizing.”
How did I explain it wasn’t a seizure? That I’d stepped into the future and saw the truth? I mutely stared at him while he gently pulled down my tank top to cover my chest, fingers weaving through my hair as he studied me relentlessly.
I couldn’t move.
I didn’twantto move.
Moving meant breaking the spell cast on us- it meant losing this.
“I can’t read your mind, Angel, I need you to speak.”
I forced myself to swallow, fiddling with the hem of my tank. “This is pointless. You won’t want me.”
“What are you talking about?”
I cleared my throat. “I lied when I said I didn’t know you. I knew you before I saw you in person.”
Every muscle in his body clenched. “In person,” he stated. I peeled away from him, snatching up my destroyed jeans. “What the fuck does that mean?” he demanded.
With my back to him, it was easier to speak.
“The first time I saw you, I was six. At least, that’s the first time I can remember. It was just a short glimpse of your face, but over the years, I’ve seen more and more.” His silence screamed louder than if he was yelling. Once my jeans were on, I dared to face him, flinching at the intensity of those eyes dripping suspicion and accusation. My lower lip quivered. “I saw what you really want and it’s not this.”
