“I’ve never had anyone do that to me before.”
She smirks, and I realize everything I’ve done with her since the day we met has been a check on the ol’ new-things-I’ve-tried checklist.
“Was the scream a good scream?” She brushes my hair from my face and wipes a bead of sweat from my brow.
I nod so hard I feel like my head is going to roll off my shoulders. “It was incredible, Skye.”
“Explain it to me.” Her tone is calm, like she didn’t just give me the most intense climax of my life.
I let my brain settle, taking me back through the steps that led up to the intense craving for her touch.
“The wax is what started it. A mix of pain and pleasure is something I never thought to consider. Being smacked on my pussy isn’t something I ever thought I’d say I enjoyed. And flicking my clit? Pardon my French, but holy fucking shit, Skye.”
She laughs, and the sound is like music to my ears. Her chest is rocking so hard that it shakes me, and I can’t help laughing along with her.
“I’m glad you like this.” She tries to keep the amusement out of her tone when she shows appreciation, but I've been around her enough that I notice it anyway.
The gears in my mind start turning, and part of me doesn’t want to ask, but the other part wants to know just how much experience she has.
“Can I ask you something?” My voice and my brain are apparently attending two different meetings because they failed to communicate with each other. I really wish I had thatLittle Mermaidnecklace right about now, the one that snatches your voice so you can’t speak.
“You can ask,” she replies slowly, in a way that tells me she may or may not answer.
I can still back out of this question. She doesn't know what my curiosity is after.
Ask her what her favorite ice cream is. Ask her if turtles have belly buttons.
“How many women have you done this with?”
Well… it's out now. Time to buckle in and see what happens.
Her eyes drop to her hands, and the joy in her eyes leaves instantly.
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have asked. I’m being nosy, and it’s not right.”
Stupid, stupid! I knew I should have gone with the turtle question.
She doesn’t say anything, but wraps her arms around me, pulling me back into her body. We sit like this for a while, completely silent in each other’s arms. Then, without warning, she starts talking.
“About two years ago, I had this girlfriend,” she begins, and I can hear the pain in her voice as she speaks. “We’d been together long enough that I wantedto show her the things I’d fantasized about. The things I’d been dying to try behind closed doors.”
She takes a deep breath, rubbing the bruise she left on my leg.
I want to let her borrow my worry stone.
“She signed the contract and gave it back to me. But when we were in the bedroom for the first time with her as my submissive, she flipped a switch.”
My stomach drops through the bed and onto the floor. I hate this story already. First, the sharp, petty jealousy that she’s been with someone else, even though I never expected her to be untouched. And second, the deeper, colder dread that she showed someone real emotion and was punished for it. I’m not just listening now; I’m braced for the ending.
“I almost lost my position on the hockey team because she went after my career. The press was all over it when they got an anonymous letter from someone who was 'attacked by Skye Callahan.' When, in reality, she never took me seriously when I said I wanted her to sign a contract.”
“Why did she go after you if she had signed the contract?”
I’m not looking up at her because I feel like she’s being vulnerable enough in this moment that I don’t want to make her feel worse. I don’t want to make her feel like she’s standing on stage in front of an audience who is judging her true colors.
I understand wanting to hide yourself.
Skye mumbles. “She signed it without reading it.” Then, she grabs my shoulders and shifts me so I’m facing her, gripping me hard so I won’t look away. Her eyes are glossy, but she doesn’t look like she’s going to cry. She looks angry. Like someone got to her in a way nobody else ever could, and she wasn’t going to let it happen again.
