The vibration stopped.
“I told you—” he started, but I cut in.
“Nope. No. I can’t be in trouble for that.” I gave a flimsy backward wave in the general vicinity of the camera. “Did you hear what I said?”
“I heard your pathetic little whimper when you moanedmyname.”
How does he make insulting words sound like the sexiest compliment?
I didn’t risk asking when my body was already aching. “Well, I also gave you a warning that if you didn’t want me to come, you had to turn it off. It’s not my fault you didn’t listen.”
“Now, Lo.”
My shoulders rose and fell. “Give me two seconds.”
He didn’t.
Rounding the bar, he put his shoulder to my belly and lifted.
I was not light.
I was not tall enough that said not-lightness was evenly distributed.
But there was zero hesitation as he hefted me over his shoulder like I weighed nothing. Not even anoomphor a groan or a wobble.
“Put me down,” I hissed.
He didn’t.
With one arm banded around my thighs to keep me in place, he made the walk to the employee exit in record time, pausing only long enough to ensure everything was locked and secure.
“Put me down,” I tried again so he had both hands available to handle the process.
“No.”
“But your old man knees.”
His palm came down on my ass hard enough to send a burning sting radiating. “You’re gonna pay for that, hellcat.”
Strangely?
I was looking forward to it.
CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE
DONE
RHYS
Imade the drive homein record fuckin’ time.
The detective in the passenger seat next to me didn’t say a word about it. She didn’t speak. Neither of us did.
Lo had pushed. She’d flirted. Flaunted. Fuckin’ tormented me even though we both knew whatever it was between us was a bad idea.
And then I’d hammered the final nail. Sealed my fate. Signed over my soul without a lick of doubt or regret.
After positioning the toy in her panties, I’d been able to smell her sweetness. Feel that slick wetness on my fingertips. I should’ve washed my hand right away. Doused it in hand sanitizer. Something.
