My little bird watches me, violet eyes wide, as I step into her space. With the dresser at her back, she has nowhere to go. I reach around her and cage her in with my arms, leaning in close. Our noses nearly brush, and for a long moment, neither of us moves. We stay there, sharing the same air and existing in the same space.
I sweep my knuckles down her cheek, enjoying the way her breath catches in her throat, and run a curl through my fingers. It’s beautiful, like the rest of her.
“Do you know what?”
“What?” she breathes.
Releasing the lock of hair, I trace her cheek, her jaw, and then her lips. Our bodies drift together, drawn by an unseen force, until my mouth hovers over hers. Our breath mingles, and our gazes are locked together.
“I enjoyed the chase, but I much prefer the way things are now.”
“You do?” She sways towards me, not that there’s much room for her to move.
I run my hands down her sides until they rest on her hips. “Very much so. After all, if I was still chasing you, I couldn’t do this, could I?”
My hands slide around her, cupping the ample globes of her bottom. Gods, this woman is so fucking perfect, I can barelyhandle it. My lips descend, slanting over hers, and I kiss her like she is my world—because she is.
Wren gasps, and I slide my tongue into her mouth, swallowing her moan.
I lift Wren, and her legs wrap around my waist. Her ankles dig into my backside, drawing me closer against her. As if she needs me as much as I do her. My cock throbs as she rubs against me. I take a few stumbling steps away from the dresser, pressing her back against the wall.
She threads her hands through my hair, grinding against me. I pull her closer. Kiss her harder. Urgency floods through me, along with desire.
Fuck. The way I want her is unmatched—it feels like I will perish if I don’t have her soon. I’m vaguely aware of Mist turning her back and curling up against the wall, but Wren nips at my lips, and I return my attention to her.
She is such a tease, this gods-blessed of mine, and it makes me so fucking hard. As if I weren’t already desperate for her, dreaming of her every night, yearning for her during every waking moment.
Two can play at this game, though.
Breaking off our kiss, I rest my forehead against hers. Our chests are heaving, and if her heart is beating as fast as mine, it’s racing.
“See?” I murmur, brushing my mouth over hers. The kiss is short. Taunting, even. “This is so much more fun than chasing you, Birdie.”
She stares up at me, and suns, I could get lost in her gaze. It’s not just the bright color of her eyes. It’s the way she looks at me as if she seesme, not just the man who was pursuing her.
“It’s not bad, Hunter.”
“What?” Disbelief courses through me.
She shrugs, her voice taking on a teasing lilt. “Could be better, though.”
A growl rumbles through my chest, and I playfully nip at her lips. “Little bird, did you really just say that?”
She raises her brows, challenge clear in her eyes. “You heard me, Gabe. What are you going to do about it?”
If she thinks I’m going to back down, she’s wrong. I will enjoy every moment of showing her how much fun we can have together. I rock my hips against Wren’s, letting the evidence of my arousal press against her core, and claim her lips in a searing kiss.
“I’m going to take care of you,” I say when we break apart. “And by the time I’m done with you, you won’t be able to walk tomorrow without remembering how much fun you can have with me—and only me.”
Because this will mean something. What we’ve done so far, I could walk away from. It would ruin me, and I’d never be the same again, but I could do it.
But once I have her like this, once I make her mine, there will be no going back.
She gasps as I carry her to the bed. Laying her down like the treasure she is, I blanket her body with mine.
Suns, she is gods-damned gorgeous.
“Gabe,” she whimpers, looking up at me. Her hair is a mess around her, her cheeks are flushed, and her Mark glows a stunning blue.
