I chuckle as I trail my lips along his neck. “In bed with me.”
His head rears as he snorts. “In bed? I wasn’t in bed with you.” My heart stops as I freeze, but Dylan doesn’t notice as he purrs deep in his throat and kisses my temple. “Are you having naughty dreams about me, Mrs. Callahan?”
The whole world tilts.
I was awake.
He was there.
He…
A dream. That had to have been a dream.
That’s what it was.
“I…” I trail, forcing myself to shake it off. “I must have been.”
Dylan turns to me, wrapping his arms around me as he smirks. “We can make those dreams a reality.”
My anxiety melts away into a real, genuine smile as I walk my fingers up his chest. “Oh? How would you do that, Mr. Callahan?”
He dips down, his eyes becoming hooded and clouded with lust. “I can think of one way—”
“Oh, is that coffee?” Kaden appears out of nowhere, shoving us aside and ruining our moment as he yanks a mug out of the cabinet. “Thanks,Dylan.”
My fiancé clears his throat as he wraps an arm around my shoulder. “Look, man, I think we started off on the wrong foot yesterday. How did you sleep last night?”
He’s extending an olive branch, trying to rectify the intensity of last night. He’s a good man, but he doesn’t know my brother as well as I do.
Which is why I tense up so tightly that I’m sure he can feel it.
Kaden takes his time, pouring his coffee into his mug before grabbing my old tumbler from the cabinet and pouring some into it. He retrieves the liquid creamer I like for my morning coffee and a few ice cubes, then concocts the drink and hands it to me.
I take it meekly. “Thanks…”
He props his hip against the counter, sipping his black coffee slowly before responding. “I sleptgreat.“ His eyes roll up to the ceiling in contemplation. “Although I didn’t wake up on the sofa.”
My cup stops halfway to my mouth as the sound rushes past my ears. Moving is impossible as he delivers the final blow.
“Must have just been a dream,” Kaden shrugs before taking his coffee out onto the terrace and easing down on one of the patio chairs.
“He’s weird,” Dylan mutters. “But I assume this is progress.”
“Yeah…” I trail, staring unseeingly at the floor. I blink rapidly. “Um, I need to go grab something.”
I don’t wait for his response as I bound back up the stairs. As I rush into my room, the door smacks into the wall as I stalk over to the bed. I rip the covers back, revealing the stain left behind from last night.
Everything slams into me.
Dylan’s hair felt different.
He’s never put a hand over my mouth during sex.
His shoulders felt wider beneath me.
He knew just what to do to make me cum…
The bile rises so quickly that I can’t stop it. I’m sprinting to the bathroom, abandoning my travel mug on the counter as I drop to my knees and hurl. Tears dot my lashes as I gag and sputter into the toilet until there’s nothing left.
