“Depriving me of you.”
“You’re proposing and fucking me instead of telling me right away Raven is missing, so we could get back home and find her?”
“There’s—” He glances at his watch. “Forty more minutes until the plane is ready to take off. I couldn’t have put a ring on your finger if I had told you that your best friend is missing right off the bat, could I?” I’m gonna smack him. “I wanted to get Raven back before bringing you home, but a fucking Fed is on our asses, looking for you, and that poses a problem. He wants proof you’re alive and unharmed. I’m taking you home so this dickweed, Trent Bane, can crawl back into whatever hole he got out of before I’ve punched him in the face... again.”
“You’ve punched him? That’s a federal crime.”
“He has a thing for you.”
“And you’re going to pick a fight with anyone who has a thing for me?”
Atlas shrugs.Fucking shrugs!
“I’d much rather kill them,” he mumbles under his breath.
Breathe! You love him. You can’t just a little bit murder him.
“Do you have a lead on where Raven is being held? Or who took her? Something? Anything? Does that bitch of a stepmother, Vivian, have anything to do with this?”
“I’ll tell you on the way to the plane. We’ll get her back. I promise. We have a few more days to prepare.”
“I’m fucking furious at you for not telling me right away.” Ipoke his chest hard enough to bruise him. Or sprain my finger. “For not coming to me sooner. She’s my family. I have the right to know.”
“I was trying to protect you. I don’t want you in this fight. But look at the bright side.”
“What’s that?”
“Saying ‘my fiancé is fucking mad at me’ sounds way better than the same statement with the now retired ‘girlfriend’ status instead.”
“And does saying ‘I’ll murder my fiancé’ sound better than ‘I’ll murder my boyfriend’?”
He opens his mouth to answer, but I shush him with my palm over his lips.
“Don’t!”
I push myself off the car, but he stops me before I’m on my feet. One palm on my chest to keep me in place, the other collecting the cum leaking off me and pushing it back inside. Then he pulls my panties back in place and smiles. I hate how much I love what he’s doing, leaving me unable to be as mad at him as I should be.
Fixing my dress, I stand up trying to glare at him, but the heavy diamond on my ring finger and the way he dickmatized me moments prior sucks the venom right out of my attitude.
I head straight for my room so I can collect my passport, and Atlas is following step for step behind me.
“I need details.”
He starts talking, laying out the enemy, the plan, and what awaits on the other side of the ocean, all the while repeating about a dozen times, “You’re not taking part.”
Like that’s going to happen.
I’m getting Raven back, and then I’ll do anything so no one will ever touch the people I love again.
The dangers of our world should make me walk away and choose a safer life. I want that. For Raven. For the guys. For the family I want with Atlas.
But that life will always catch up to people like us.
Jail or a body bag—that’s the only way out. I’m choosing neither.
As it turns out, everything so far was just a single battle. The first of I don’t know how many. But I’m no longer fighting alone, and I’m never again losing a loved one.
That’s a promise.
And I never break one.
