Hope that’s not a permanent stutter.
Jerking my head for the door, Barry disappears out of my sight.
It can be any redhead Jacob’s after, but when the boy mentioned the club... Was my cousin there to witness Summer in action? If he saw how she handled me, he’ll be after her because he’ll know I’ll be, too. The question is, will I have to beat the shit out of Jacob or straight up bury him?
The guys and I get back home past three in the morning, with a plan for distributing the art from Warehouse 4 to all the others. Whatever Jacob has planned, we’ll let it unfold with no real stakes for us.
Normally, my cousin’s attempts at sabotage wouldn’t disrupt my sleep. But tonight, I’ve got two problems fighting for my attention: my tryst with the redhead, and the possibility that my asshole of a cousin hired someone to follow her. Either one could keep me awake. Both problems have the same name.
Summer Night.
Chapter 11
Atlas
There goes the sunrise, greeted with my dick in hand for the second time in a row, all thanks to the memory of her raspy moans. That sneaky little demon reduced me to... I don’t even know what to call it. A serial masturbator?
But she likes me, so I’m sure she’ll put an end to my suffering soon. Or I’ll have to take matters into my own hands.
Damn, that sounds exactly like what I’m currently doing.
I think a follow-up visit is due for tonight, and this time she’ll definitely be happy to see me. We’ll have a nice chat about how our days went, she’ll offer to suck my dick, which I would be more than happy to allow, and then I’ll fuck her. Too optimistic? Maybe a notch too much. But she likes me, and she’s unpredictable, so who knows.
I’m feeling lucky today!
I force myself to take a shower, letting the plans for Barry’s list, my classes, the upcoming gallery exhibition, and everything else, slither through thoughts of my Succubus.
Getting downstairs for breakfast, Carter is already grabbing coffee to-go. That’s his new habit. A month and a half ago, he started skipping our usual five-person mornings. Without his humor, thestart of our days feels off, and lately, he’s barely offered any. It has to be torture for him, too.
“Art, stay for breakfast!” It’s a weak attempt, but worth a try.
“I have some stuff to take care of before classes. Maybe tomorrow.”
“This needs to stop!” Dean has never been known to be either subtle or delicate in anything he says, but to his credit, his words hit straight at the target.
“Dean, don’t! We’ll figure it out on our own,” Connor snaps, grabbing his jacket. “You stay, I’ll leave,” he tells his brother, shooting out the door before any of us can protest.
I knew their scheme of exchanging girls without their knowledge would bite them in the ass. And it did.
Carter didn’t want to share one in particular. Connor went behind his back. She found out, and now wants nothing to do with either. Problem is, Connor wants her too. But I bet it’s out of spite.
It all sounds bananas, and I hope one of them will step aside and stop chasing that girl, because we have a lot to discuss about the New York gallery, which is the first of many we’ll use to branch out.
“All set for next Monday in New York?” I ask.
“Meeting’s at 10. We should get there a day or two beforehand. I doubt we’ll have a problem with Romanoff,” Dean explains.
“We can always extort him. There’s plenty of dirt on him,” Link notes.
“Extortion should be a last resort. Reward works better long-term. No one likes a collar on his neck, unless it’s a golden one, so let’s try it the proper way first. We’ll have his file on us in case we need it. A ‘no’ is not an acceptable answer.”
Link checks his phone, and I get a sneak peek of blond hair on the screen.
“I have—” He jumps from the chair, trailing off for a moment, unable to finish that sentence. “I’ll catch you tonight.” He grabs his jacket, closing the door behind him before he’s finished the sentence.
I, too, take my sandwich and coffee to-go, so that I can catch Summer this morning, see if her disposition toward me has changed for the better since last night. It must have! After all, she thoroughly enjoyed my company.
Arriving at the Business School building, I scan the area for her. I have her class schedule, but she’s a no-show this morning. Sick? Traumatized is not an option I’ll entertain. If she’s sick, maybe I should visit her sooner rather than later. I can make her feel better in more ways than she can imagine.
