I love her dismissive attitude and how she isn’t nosy like my mother. I’m envious that my mom didn’t treat us this way, and I bow my head.
“We have,” Blake answers, leaning down to tilt my head up. “You okay?”
“Yes,” I reply quickly, turning to smile at Kayla. “We’re having a boy.”
CHAPTER 34
BLAKE
Icome home to see Danielle waiting at the door, her bump greeting me before she does. It’s been a hard day, but as usual, the minute her lips touch mine, I’m back in the room.
“You’re like a drug,” I mutter, sinking to my knees to speak to our baby. “Daddy’s missed you.”
Like he can hear me, he kicks, the feeling of his tiny foot rubbing against my skin is enough to make me cry.
“He’s missed you too,” Danielle coos, losing her fingers in my hair.
“When is he coming?” I groan, kissing her tummy before standing up. “I’m so over this wall you’ve put between us,” I joke, sweeping my hand over her stomach.
Danielle laughs, throwing her hair over her shoulder. “Imagine howIfeel. Three months to wait, Mr. James.”
I sigh, following her into the house.
She’s wearing a silky black robe that falls open at the top of her bump, revealing the beauty of our creation, then her long, tanned legs.
I can’t help but grow hard as I shut the door behind me.
“Mrs. James, you look ravishing,” I mumble, moving her hair away from her shoulder, exposing her neck. “I’d like to ravish you.”
Danielle chuckles, shaking her head. “Not today. I’m far too achy.”
Kissing her bare skin, I nod. “Okay, baby. Maybe a massage?”
“Maybe.” Danielle smiles at me over her shoulder, turning to kiss my fingers as they caress her skin.
“I love you so much,” I whisper for the millionth time. I feel like if I don’t say it every day, she’s not going to know how much she means to me.
“I love you too.” Danielle kisses my mouth gently, twisting her body so our creation sits between us.
“Can I hold him?” I glance down, and she nods.
“Please do.”
Slipping my hands under her bump, I support her full weight as she sighs with relief. “Ah, baby. He’s heavy.”
“I know,” Danielle moans. “My poor back.”
“You know he’s going to be worth it, right?”
Danielle smiles through her tiredness, nodding with delight. “I can’t wait to meet him. I bet he looks just like you.” Danielle yawns, and I drop kisses over her face before she crawls onto the sofa with a sigh.
“Rest, sweetheart. I'll just go and put these papers in the office, and then I’ll be back.”
The sound of an engine gunning outside piques my interest, and I stop halfway up the stairs.
Who the hell is this?
Dropping my briefcase on the bottom step, I stride to the door, opening it to reveal Issac.
