“What?”

She rolls her eyes, causing her long lashes to fan out. “Turn around you philistine, so I can go grab my clothes.”

I swear under my breath but do as she asks.

“Stop looking.” She peers up from her bent over position and I pretend to study the ceiling.

“Now she has modesty,” I mutter.

“Okay.” She’s in a sundress and sandals. She rubs her hands briskly over her arms.

I pull off my coat and hand it to her. She looks at it like I used it to wipe my ass.

“You wear it. It keeps you warm.”

“Thanks.” She slides it over her shoulders and shivers into it, slowly, like she’s expecting it to bite. She reaches into her bag and pulls out an empty bottle, shaking it with a frown. “You don’t have any water, do you?” Her lips are cracked and dry. I didn’t notice that at first. Her pallor is alarming. I bend down to grab the bottle I brought in earlier. She snatches it from my hand and chugs it like it’s the nectar of life.

“Uhh. That’s good.” The long column of her throat moves as she swallows. “I’ve never been Under that long.” She wipes her mouth with the back of her hand engulfed in my coat.

“Under?”

She relaxes, leaning her head back on the seat. She looks bushwhacked. “It’s what I call it when I… do that. It feels like I’m underwater or something and when I come up, it’s like I can breathe again.”

“When you do what exactly?” I’m lost in this conversation but she already thinks I’m an idiot. I’ll have to Google ‘philistine’ later to prove I’m not.

“Hey, how come you can see me?”

I blink. “Because I have the gift of vision.”

“No.” Her little nostrils flare. “You can see me when nobody else can. I thought it was a fluke earlier.”

“I knew that was you.” I point and snap my fingers at her face.

“Wow, great work, Sherlock. You managed to deduce that the naked girl here was the same as the naked one from earlier as we look exactly the same.”

“Has anybody ever told you how delightful you are?”

The look on her face tells me that yes, they have. What she says finally sinks in. I know, I know, but naked woman equals blood not in brain.

“Wait, wait, are you saying you actually turn invisible and I’m the only person who sees you?”

The look on her face says exactly that. “Hi, welcome to our conversation.” She stands. “Listen, I have to go.” Her hand shoots out to steady herself on the back of the chair.

She can’t leave. I need to know how much she heard.

I grab her wrist as she moves away. “Wait.”

“Don’t touch me.” She flinches back.

“Sorry. Shit.” My arms are back in the air. “Sorry, but you can’t just go.”

“No? Okay.” She walks into the aisle.

“Who are you? Why are you stalking me?” I’m up and following her, not touching her. It’s my turn to be mad. “Are you trying to get a pic of me for some tabloid or something?”

This stops her. “Please. If that’s what I wanted you’d be all over the Internet by now.”

“Then who are you? Have you been following me all day? How did you find me here?”
