Could this day get any worse?
That was a total slap in the face. I knew what Ezekiel and I were and wouldn’t be, but he didn’t have to disrespectfully remind me.
“You know what? Fuck you, Ezekiel.”
“You already did.” He laughed like I was a joke to him. “Quite a few times, I might add.”
“Fuckin’ asshole,” I whispered under my breath so he wouldn’t hear me.
I grabbed my things and brushed past him, not bothering to lock up the dressing room when I left. I had five minutes to get my shit together before the cameras started rolling.
We finished filming, and it was time for me to head home. I was tired and hot from all the lights and tons of equipment on set. Despite Ezekiel and I exchanging words earlier, we killed our scene. No one was able to tell what took place in my dressing room hours before, and that’s how I intended to keep it. We always did a good job keeping our little secret under wraps, so it was nothing new.
I hurried back to my dressing room, trying to get away from the other cast members before they attempted to spark a conversation I would rather not have. When I got closer, I saw Wynn’s ass snooping around my shit, like she was looking for something.
This bitch chose the wrong day to be in my sight.
I walked up on her. “Little bitch, I’m getting tired of your snooping ass. What the fuck do you want?” I assumed I caughther off guard by the way she jumped and dropped the folder she had in her hand.
Then, it seemed like there was a switch. Wynn stood up straight and looked into my eyes. “Saje, or should I say hoe? You don’t want these problems. I’m from the hood, and the only bitch here is you. Ain’t nobody scared of yo’ ass. I played this good girl role for too long, and yo’ dumb ass is putting me right back in my ghetto element.”
“Girl, who the fuck are you talkin’ to?” Just when I lifted my arms to make my hands do the talking, someone snatched me up, lifting me off my feet from behind. The way they carried me made me feel like I weighed nothing but a few pounds and not the curvaceous woman I was.
I was so hot, I couldn’t look to see who was dragging my ass inside my dressing room. The entire way, I kept my eyes on Wynn, wishing I was free to smack that ugly smile right off her face. Beating her ass would have made me feel ten times better. She would be the perfect person to take my anger out on.
“Put me down, now! Please let me beat the brakes off that hoe!” I begged, ignoring my surroundings and forgetting I was at work. I kicked and screamed, trying to get whoever was carrying me to let me go.
I was shoved into my dressing room, and when the door slammed, I turned around to see who was bold enough to pick up my big ass.
Ezekiel.
I should’ve known it was him. This nigga was quiet the whole time he carried me, or maybe I was just too mad to notice him.
He had fire in his eyes, and not the good kind. “Saje, getcho’ ass outta here. Out there tryna fight that girl like y’all in the slums and not in a professional environment.”
“Ezekiel, that bitch was talkin’ big shit. It’s about time I showed her who the fuck she’s messing with.”
“Oh, big bad wolf, Saje. Fuck her. I’on know why you letting that assistant get under your skin.”
I closed my eyes, trying to catch my breath and calm down. I wished he would’ve at least let me get a good hit in.
“You lucky it was me who saw you acting a fool, and not anyone else. Yo’ ass probably would’ve been on the front-page news by now.”
He was right. I had a reputation to uphold. My image was more important than a low-down bitch. Allowing a peasant to get under my skin was beneath me. I knew better.
I had nothing to say; this situation could’ve ended badly. And God forbid Reason found out about this. I wouldn’t hear the end of it.
“Get on out of here, Saje. Don’t you gotta gender reveal to focus on?”
“Don’t fuckin’ remind me.”
I didn’t bother packing my work bag neatly. I shoved everything inside, threw up the deuces at Ezekiel, and strutted out.
CHAPTER 28
NOVAH KILGORE
“You one sexy ass muhfucka, Novah,” Basheer complimented as he came up for air. He had just finished giving me the best head I’d ever received in my life.
