I see her nod, or at least try to, because she barely moves her head in my grip. And right before she loses consciousness, I release the pressure on her neck, and she starts coughing.

That doesn’t stop me from finger fucking her. I just wait until she draws in large breaths and oxygen returns to her brain so I can be sure she understands what I’m asking. “I need to know the truth. What really brought you to my bed? Your need for revenge, or pleasure.”

She pauses for a second, like the answer might be harder to give than I expected, then she closes her eyes and moans a couple of times as the motion inside her hits her walls.

Just when I think I’ll have to ask again, her lips tremble, “Revenge brought me to you...” she trembles, voice unsteady. “...but it was the man… the God who made me never want to leave.”

“Good answer, my filthy little curse,” I say, trying to hold back the smile blooming on my lips. I need to show her who’s really in control from now on. “Now take a deep breath, I need you to come hard for me,” I barely finish my sentence as I watch her chest rise.

My grip tightens again around her neck, and I guide her fingers until the knuckles hit her entrance.Fucking hell, nothing even comes close to this.

Instinctively, she tries to fight the sensation for a few seconds, but with no result. Her legs push into the ground, her hand almost bruising against the cuff from trying to break free. But I know exactly what’s happening as I feel her juices run down her fingers and coat my own hand.

Her eyes blink rapidly, throaty sounds echoing against my hand as I loosen my grip. Then the sounds rush out, moan after moan, each one louder than the last as I swirl her fingers while I lean down against her breast. She’s such a beautiful mess right now, her body trembling, her breath uneven, her heart racing, her thighs coated in her ecstasy.

I stay right where I am, holding her through it, listening as the storm inside her slowly begins to quiet.

Maybe, just maybe… if I stay long enough, it’ll quiet something in me too.

Once she comes back to her senses, her fingers drift in my hair, absentmindedly, almost instinctively.

Suddenly this feels all too familiar. All too soon.

“Don’t think this got you off the hook,” I mutter, trying to lift my head from her breast. But her hand slides over me, keeping me there.

“I told you, I know I deserve it.” Her voice is soft, regretful. “Deciding to come after you when I thought you were Elias’s killer was the toughest decision I ever made.” Her gaze meetsmine. “And I can’t apologize.” She hesitates for a moment, taking a deep breath. “Because I knowsorrywon’t be enough.”

“No, it won’t,” I raise my head despite her trying to keep me there. “It’ll take a lot to even consider forgiving you. A lot of obedience. A lot of your screams.” I rise just enough to reach her ear. “But you’re on the right track, little curse,” I say, biting the sensitive skin of her ear. “Just keep in mind that if you try anything... any of your fucking tricks...” my voice drops, spiked with warnings.

My fingers tighten on her thighs, firm enough to make her stiffen—yet instead of pulling away, her body curves inward, like she’s drawn closer by it.

“I’ll keep you tied in this room for eternity.” I hold her there for a second longer, letting the threat settle.

Then I pull back, exhaling sharply. “Now let’s have some fucking dinner. I’m starving.”

-Brynn-

I make it through dinner without an interrogation regarding who really helped me infiltrate the game.

I’m set on making sure I also make it through the night. I’ve mentioned at least a couple of times how bad my leg’s been hurting over the past hour. So much so, that it actually made Ares go down to the basement and bring me some painkillers from my room.

It wasn’t entirely a lie, maybe more of an exaggeration. My leg is killing me, but not half as badly as my conscience would if he found out about 404.

The painkiller does the job, but also knocks me out way earlier than usual. Not that I’m complaining. That was the goal after all—escape him for a night, even if escaping him actually means sharing a bed.

Ares wakes me up in the morning, his attitude completely different, like we went back to forty-eight hours ago, and I’m the enemy again.

What the fuck!?

“Get dressed, I’m in a hurry,” he commands rather than asks, pointing to a pair of oversized leather pants, white sneakers, a matching shirt, and a warm jacket.

He doesn’t give me time to ask where we’re going. Just walks through the door while I’m still standing, staring at the neatly arranged clothes.I guess no breakfast in bed…

I knew this was coming, that I won’t be getting the princess treatment anytime soon—if ever. Still, I didn’t expect such a big shift in his attitude. If what happened last night only made his decent guy attitude last till the morning, then I’ve got a lot more work ahead of me.

I get dressed and limp out of the bedroom, then into the kitchen, where he’s waiting for me, coffee in hand, looking like he’s ready to go.
