Staring at him, I cup his face while he continues to tease my clit without mercy. My toes curl as the orgasm approaches. “Bite me, Luc.”

His brow furrows. “Are you sure? You used a lot of magic today.”

I nod. “Yes, please. I’m recovered. I promise.”

He pulls his fingers away from my pussy, and I pout. “Hey!”

“Patience, my love,” he says a second before he penetrates me, stretching me in the most pleasurable way.

I open my legs wider, and Lucca sees that as a sign to lift one of them over his shoulder. His cock reaches deeper in this position, and he knows I love it.

“Yes, just like that,” I murmur.

He covers my lips with his fingers, then pries my mouth open so I can taste myself on his skin. I suck his fingers, and he increases the pace of his thrusts, pounding into me. Soon, I’m on the verge of climaxing again. Lucca’s eyes shine red, and his brows are creased in a deep V. It’s his tell that he’s close.

“Now, Lucca. Do it now!”

He bites the inside of my leg, his fangs breaking the skin as if it was butter. The sharp sting of pain feeds the pleasure that had already being building, and it shoots me into orbit. I shout his name as loud as I can as he unravels me utterly and completely.

He lets my leg slide off his shoulder so he can pull me onto his lap and crush his lips to mine. I taste my blood on his tongue, but also his addictive flavor that I can’t quite describe. I’m caught in a tempest, and we’re so close that I don’t know whose air I’m breathing.

Lucca’s fingers dig into my hips as he takes control of my movements. He grows larger and harder inside me. I know he likes pain too, so I grab a fistful of his hair and yank back.

He groans against my mouth before his body shakes and he fills me with his hot seed. He’s breathing hard when he jerks one last time before going still.

I lean back so I can catch my breath, but I don’t go far. I keep my forehead pressed to his.

“Wow.” He laughs softly. “I needed this.”

“Me too.” I pull away a little so I can look into his warm brown eyes. “Things will get better.”

He frowns again. “I don’t think I share the same optimism as you do, my love.”

I frame his face with my hands. “I have enough optimism for the both of us. I didn’t think I’d ever regain my powers, or that you’d fall in love with me when you were destined to kill me. You didn’t believe you could break your curse, but you did. Goodthings have happened to us, Luc, and I know in my heart that our luck won’t change.”

“You’re too good for me, Vivi. But I accept your shared optimism.” He smiles. “Now let’s try to get some sleep. I have a feeling we’ll need our full strength later.”

Forty-Three

SOPHIE

Lucca’s butler, a human in his forties named Gerard, takes Igor and Tish to their room while I follow them with Vaughn. I need to know where they’re staying just in case. This situation is too surreal to me. A couple of months ago, I was given the mission to infiltrate Lucca’s inner circle and kill him. I was certain accomplishing the first part would be nearly impossible, yet here I am, welcomed into his home. Though killing him is not part of the plan anymore—truth be told, it never was. Maybe I refused to end him because he was responsible for Boone’s demise. The adage “the enemy of my enemy is my friend” never rang truer.

Lucca’s mansion is twice as big as my father’s. We pass several closed doors in the hallway before turning a corner. The décor screams old money. Vintage wallpaper in a deep burgundy color covers the walls, and there are oil paintings hanging from them. All the windows are shut—naturally—and framed by heavy curtains.

Gerard stops in front of a dark wood door, opens it for Igor, and steps out of the way so he can enter.

“Thanks,” Igor says.

Tish zooms in before he can and exclaims, “Wow. This is nice! Dibs on the bed.”

Igor shakes his head. “You’re sleeping on the floor, pest.”

I peer inside and see the four-poster bed and Tish already making a nest for herself with the many pillows lying on it.

“Don’t kill each other, please,” I say.

“Can’t make any promises,” Tish replies.
