“Hold this for a bit.” He placed the ice pack on it. “You’re not playing for a few games, so this should be good. Come and see me in a couple of days to check in, but I’ll probably be able to take those stitches out in a week.”

“Okay. Thanks, Doc,” I grumbled.

The door suddenly flew open and in walked Cooper, Jasper, Huck, and Brogan, followed by Dante.

I stood up, Jasper hugging me again, his hand cupping the back of my head. “You okay?”

I nodded.

“How’s Clevs?”

“He’s in surgery. He’s broken his leg and his knee.”

His eyes bulged. “Fuck, his knee?”

I turned around to the Docs. “What was it?”

“His leg was crushed against the boards. His femur has snapped and he’s fractured his knee, but we need to see what the surgeon says once they’re out,” Erica repeated what she told me earlier.

The guys all winced, knowing full well how much recovery time this would take, knowing how damaging this could be for his career.

“How much longer will he be in?”

Ford looked at his watch. “Maybe another hour, I’m not sure. It depends on the damage.”

Jasper turned to me. “Murray took Emerson home. Her phone died so she hadn’t got your message. She’s gone to the loft.”

I sighed in relief. “Oh thank fuck. I’ve been trying to get hold of her. Thanks, buddy.”

I was desperate to get home to her, then guilt flooded me at the thought of Felix being in surgery, because he wouldn’t be going anywhere for a while.

What a shitty day. There had to be something to take our mind off this while we waited.

“How’s Flossie?”

I don’t think I’d ever seen Jasper smile so widely, even on his wedding day. “She’s fucking amazing, man. I swear she smiled at me this morning, although Wolf said it was a burp, but she’s so fucking beautiful.”

He pulled out his phone and started flicking through photos of her. She was so fucking cute.

“Most beautiful baby I’ve ever seen.”

The fact that I hadn’t actually seen many was irrelevant.

“Yeah. I can’t even explain it, but my heart feels like it’s going to give out every time I look at her.”

“You should go home, everyone would understand. Clevs wouldn’t want you away from his favorite goddaughter.”

He laughed. “It’s all good, she’s in bed. I’ll wait to see what the verdict is from the surgeon first.”

The door to our room opened and in walked two, pulling off their caps.

I blinked hard.

“Mol?” Jasper and I asked in unison.

Cooper was faster with his reaction, crossing the room and pulling his sister into a hug.

“Molly? What are you doing here?”
