He nodded.

I lifted up my sheet and sure enough, sticking out from under my hospital gown was a tube. “Well, that’s fucking disgusting.”

“Yeah.”

A horrifying thought hit me. “Ugh, d’you think Molly put it in?”

“Can we not talk about my sister touching your dick please, even if it is under medical circumstances?”

Drew started laughing and it only got louder, which set me off and like dominos, they all fell, Emerson first, followed by Freddie then Cooper. All of us were laughing, and the tightness in my chest loosened.

“What happened at the game after I left?”

“Drew got suspended for six games for beating the shit out of Walls, twice.”

My eyebrows rose, although I wasn’t surprised. Drew could be lethal when he wanted to be, and I knew he wouldn’t have let this slide. “Did you?”

He nodded. “Of course I did. And now every time he looks into the mirror and sees his fucked up face, he’ll remember why.”

“Thanks, buddy.” I squeezed his shoulder. “What’ve the officials said?”

“Coach said he’s been suspended for thirty-six games.”

I let out a low whistle. “Good, he fucking deserves it. If I’m out the rest of the season, then he should fucking well be out for most of it too.”

Cooper nodded slowly. “Yep.”

The door opened and a male nurse built like an Olympic wrestler walked in wearing pink scrubs and carrying a small tray. “Mr. Cleverly, I need to take your bloods.”

He came over and put the tray down, opening up a packet with a vial on. He took my arm and screwed the vial into the end of the little tap-thing sticking out of my hand. I turned away as it started filling up with blood.

Only Freddie was watching with interest.

“Where’s everyone else?”

“Molly told them to stagger coming, because you needed rest. Jas came earlier, but you were asleep. He’ll be back tomorrow. Huck said he’s going to come too.”

“Where is Molly? I’d like to see her.” I turned to the nurse. “Hey, do you know where Molly is?”

He shook his head as he removed the full vial and sealed it. “Who’s Molly? I don’t know her.”

My brows creased together. “Doctor Marks?”

“Oh, she’ll be in surgery. Do you need me to give her a message? Or I can call Doctor Reyes if you need anything?”

“No, just Mol... Doctor Marks.”

“Sure, no problem.” He took the clipboard off the wall and wrote in it before putting it back. “Do you need any extra pain meds? How are you feeling?

The throbbing in my leg was currently at a bearable level. “No, not right now. They keep knocking me out.”

He studied me for a second. “Okay, but take them if you need to. Don’t be the tough guy, because rest is more important.”

“But he already is the tough guy.” Coop chuckled to himself and I saw Drew smirk.

The nurse pursed his lips and we all watched him walk out. Cooper was still laughing.

“He was sunshine and flowers. Imagine getting a sponge bath from him.”
