He’d found me.

And he hadn’t forgotten me.

And he hadn’t stood me up on purpose.

And now he wanted to go on a date.

“Oh, there you are. What are you still doing in here?” Ashley’s face peered around the door, snapping me out of my daze.

I stood up, gathering my things and walked over to her. “Just thinking.”

The cleaning crew passed me on my way out.

“How was the class?” She was practically bouncing in delight as we walked up the stairs. “Everyone looked wiped as they walked out.”

I laughed, the nervous knots in my belly dissolving like an effervescent tablet, leaving bubbles in their wake. “It was good.”

“I can’t believe some of the Rangers were in there. How were they? Everyone was waiting outside, asking for selfies as they left.”

“Who?”

“The New York Rangers - Jasper Jacobs and Cooper Marks were at the reception desk when you walked in earlier. Then Huck Sands, Drew Crawley, and Felix Cleverly came after you left.”

I flinched as she said his name. Drew Crawley.

I rolled it on my tongue. Drew Crawley.

“They all play ice hockey?” I guess that explained their size and stamina. I was right when I thought they looked like professional athletes.

“Yeah, Jasper Jacobs is Captain,” she nodded excitedly before handing me a folded piece of paper. “One of the girls left you this, by the way.”

I took it, opening it up.

So, Vegas Sex God was a professional athlete in New York City. How had I missed that in the nine months I’d been here? I wasn’t a massive hockey fan. Being from California, it was a bit cold for me. And my childhood was mostly spent on the beach or watching my big brother play baseball, but still, it was the type of thing I was usually aware of. And this city worshipped its athletes.

“What’s on your arm?”

I looked down, forgetting he’d written on me, and tried to cover it up. “Oh, nothing.”

She frowned at me. “Are you okay? You look like you’ve seen a ghost or something.”

Somethingwould be correct.

I tried to shake myself out of my daze. “Yeah. Hey, what time do you finish? Let’s see if the girls are around to go dancing tonight.”

“Hell yes, way ahead of you. Jessie just left and said to tell you Bar None tonight. I’ll message you when I’m done here, and we can meet earlier for some cocktails.”

“Sounds good.” I turned, opening the front doors. “Okay, see you later.”

“Emerson, you don’t have your stuff with you.”
