She nodded. “Yes.”

“He’d wanted to see me again and I went to meet him later at the place we’d agreed, but he never showed up. I figured that he must have changed his mind and wanted to keep it as a one night stand or whatever. I’d written my number on his arm, but I never heard from him again.”

Her face dropped slightly, before her eyes lit up. “Oh my God, did you see him? Did you bump into him this morning?”

I bit down on the inside of my cheek. “Yeah, kind of.”

She looked at me, waiting for me to continue.

“He was in the class.”

“Shut. Up.” She slammed her hand on the table loudly, and so hard the drinks sloshed in the glasses. “OhmyGod, which one was he? Wait, let me guess.” She held her hand up to stop me from interrupting - not that I had a chance to before she continued on her roll.

I sat back, sipping my margarita as she started listing out guys.

“The tall guy that always buys the new kit when it comes out? He’s cute. Oh, the guy that’s always early, he comes to your class every weekend, always first in line.”

“No, I’ve never seen him at the studio before. He’s never been.”

She drummed her fingers on the table, trying to think, her lips pursed, and face screwed up in concentration.

“Okay, I can’t think of anyone new this morning. I was too pre-occupied by the Rangers being in. You need to tell me what they were like by the way. Anyway, who was it?”

She picked up her margarita and I waited until she had some and put it back down, predicting what would happen given her usual dramatic flair.

“Drew Crawley.”

She leaned forward across the table until we were almost nose to nose, her eyes wide, her brows practically in her hairline. “Say again?”

“Drew Crawley.”

“Drew Crawley?”

I nodded.

She lowered her voice to a dramatic whisper. “Drew Crawley, right wing for the New York Rangers, is the guy you hooked up with in Vegas and then he was in your class this morning?”

I nodded.

She frowned. “But how did you not know who he was?”

I shrugged. “I’m from California. Our family is a baseball family. I don’t really follow hockey, and I definitely don’t know all the players. And I haven’t paid much attention to it this past year.”

Her mouth dropped open. “Holy fuck. Did he recognize you?”

“Yeah, he knew I was taking the class. Do you remember the two women who arrived early?”

“Yes, Freddie and Wolf. They always take Jace’s class and they always spend a fortune in the shop. I didn’t know who they were married to until this morning though.”

“Yeah, well, yesterday when I took Jace’s class they recognized me from a picture that Drew had taken of us last year, and they brought him this morning. He was there on purpose; they all came in to see me.”

“Fucking hell. This is amazing.” She smacked the table again, startling the group next to us, then pointed to me. “He wrote his phone number on your arm.”

Wow. It was like she was playing the Ashley edition of Crime Scene Investigation.

“Yes,” I nodded, trying not to get annoyed at her volume levels.

“Okay, sorry, hang on.” She downed her drink in one before taking a deep breath and outwardly composing herself. “Okay, okay. Are you okay? That must have been a shock. No wonder you look like you’d seen a ghost.”
