I turned and found a man placing a twenty down, which the barman snatched up.
“Oh no, that’s okay. Thank you, though.”
He smiled at me; he was sort of cute, in a college grad, preppy kind of way.
“Please, I insist.” He covered my hand with his.
I wasn’t sober enough to argue with a guy who wanted to buy me a drink.
“Okay, thank you.”
He peered at me while he sipped his beer. “Who are you here with? Are you going to tell me your boyfriend? Please say no.”
I laughed. “No, I’m with my friends; they’re on the dance floor.”
“Oh, thank God,” he grinned, moving closer to me. “So does that mean I can get your number?”
“Well, well, well. Fancy seeing you here.” The deep, rich timbre caressed my thighs and sent shivers racing down my spine, riding a Bullet Train with one destination - Vagina Central. “Hey, Luck.”
He leaned in and kissed my cheek, casually flinging a thickly muscled arm around my shoulder, staking a claim and sending my heart soaring until it was jumping around like I’d left it with Mikey on the dancefloor.
Although the guy in front of me didn’t seem to notice; he was full-on staring open mouthed at Drew.
“Holy shit, you’re Drew Crawley. Oh man, I love you.”
Drew grinned. “Thanks, dude, I appreciate that.”
“Fuck, wait ‘til the guys hear I saw you.” He fumbled around in his pocket for his phone. “Hey, do you think I could get a selfie?”
“Sure, no problem.”
The guy thrust his phone at me. “Actually, could you take it?”
And this was another reason why I hated hanging out with my brother and his friends in public.
I scowled at Drew trying to hide his amusement at my annoyance and snatched the phone, snapping a couple of pictures before handing it back.
He flicked through them. “Oh wow, thanks, man. You’re the best. I can’t wait for next season. You and Cleverly are going to smash it!”
“Hope so.” Drew put his arm back around me. “Hey, buddy, do you mind giving us a minute?”
I tried not to be insulted that the guy seemed to care more about his selfie with Drew than he did about being completely cock-blocked. Or maybe he hadn’t grasped it was actually happening.
Not sure which was worse.
He looked horrified. “Oh sure, sure. I’m sorry. I didn’t realize you were her boyfriend. I would never have asked for her number if I’d known.”
Drew placed his hand on the guy’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, I totally get how smoking hot she is.”
He nodded emphatically. “Yeah, man, she is. Not sure which one of you is luckier.”
What in the actual fuck was happening right now?
Drew laughed out loud. “Oh, that’s definitely me.”
As he walked off, Drew spun round to face me, leaning against the bar, so cocky and casual, a shit-eating grin spreading on his gorgeous face, his dimple deepening like a crevasse Icould fall into if I wasn’t careful. It was as though the air suddenly thinned out whenever he was around, because for the second time that day, I found it hard to take a full breath.
Being five feet ten, it wasn’t often I had to really look up at a guy, but I had to look up at him. And look I did, right into hazel eyes sparkling in amusement and rimmed with long black lashes, lashes that would have taken me several coats of mascara to achieve. He’d had his cap on this morning and I’d forgotten how thick and luscious his hair was, with silky black curls gathered at the base of his neck.
