The thought of all of it has my cock hardening, wanting to do more, but instead, I choose to lean against the table and prop my head on my hand.
“What’d you think?”
“Ten out of ten. No notes needed. It was perfect, Jax.”
I school my features as much as possible as someone else gets on the mic, belting out more bad singing, and we both burst into laughter. I’m laughing so hard, there are tears streaking down my face and my hand grips Kai’s shoulder to keep myself upright.
As soon I look back up and our eyes meet, though, the entire energy in the room shifts. It’s like the heater has been turned on, and someone shoved earplugs in my ears. All there is, ishim. And not like before.
It’s almost like I can hear every single heartbeat, every breath. I feel like I can smell him that much more, that masculine scent, and my cock is hardening. His breathing has slowed too, so I wonder if he’s feeling the same way.
My hand starts skating down his arm, falling slowly but tracing the shape until I finally reach his hand. My finger is just resting between his thumb and forefinger, waiting on him to make the next move, but he remains motionless for one beat, then two, and then there’s a twitch.
His hand wraps around my finger, holding it like a child would hold their parent’s, and I catch myself staring at the motion. I feel like I’m sixteen, holding a boy’s hand for the first time as I move forward, twisting our wrists until our fingers interlock. Both our breaths woosh out, his brushing against my face as I hold myself back from shaking. I want him, and I have a sneaky suspicion he may want me too.
CHAPTER TWENTY
KAI
Time stands still. As a matter of fact, I’m not sure time is a thing at all. What is time? Where are we? These are the things that filter through my brain as my lungs seize and I lose my goddamn mind. The tension in the room is palpable. He’s touching me. Is this real life? The guy I’ve been pining over all this time, who happened to stroll into my family’s company and is now on a work vacation with me, is touching me. I feel like I’m about to blow all over the front of my jeans like some kid with no fucking experience, but holy shit, I’m hard as a fucking rock.
I finally rip my gaze away from our simple touch and meet his face. Those green eyes have darkened, but they hold the same fire I’m sure mine do right now.
“Do you want to go back to the house?” I’m hardly able to get louder than a whisper, using all my energy to keep myself from falling down the hill.
“Yes.”
I stand so fast, the bar stool I was sitting on scrapes across the hard flooring, drawing attention from around the bar, but my mind isn’t on them right now. All I can think about is getting Jax back to the rental and between the sheets.
It’s so bad, I feel like I’m waddling out of here, the strain of my erection so fucking painful, I can barely take it.
“You gonna make it?”
“No, no, I really don’t think I’m going to.”I need him now.
My head quickly whips from side to side, trying to find a place where I can relieve some of this pressure before we get home. Then, my eyes catch on a dark alley.
Am I really going to propose that this hot-as-sin man gets on his knees for me right there? Am I that desperate?
Fuck it.
I turn and face him, cupping his cheek in a natural reaction, and he immediately melts into the touch.
With his hand in mine, I turn in the direction where I want to go and high tail it over there, pulling him and his laughter along behind me.
I can’t wipe the stupid grin off my face, couldn’t even if I wanted to, and, with a glance over my shoulder, I can tell he can’t either.
It feels like we’re just two young, dumb kids desperate to get their hands on the other person without a care for the repercussions. That adrenaline inducing euphoria that makes all rational decisions go out the window.
The thing, though? I really don’t care. Not now.
As soon as the darkness envelopes us from the surrounding buildings, I have him pressed against the wall, and our mouths collide. He tastes fruity, like the drink he was sipping all night, exactly the same way he smells, the sweet coconut that has my mouth watering.
My lips find the column of his throat, leaving wet marks down it and back up to his jaw before finding his mouth again.
Our tongues collide, his hand finds my erection, and I buck into it, needing more, never wanting his touch to disappear.
There’s no capacity to take in oxygen, my lungs barely function. I pull away to try to catch my breath, making eye contact long enough for me to breath out, “I need you now,” before he’s switching positions with me and my back is against the brick.
