“Not tonight,” he said softly. “Another day.” He yawned. “And another.”
“Sure, angel. As much as you want.”
Darcy nodded as I stroked his arm.
I wasn’t getting in too deep, I told myself. This was nothing.
I’d know when I was getting in too deep.
At least, I hoped I would.
Chapter Nine
Darcy
“Good morning, sunshine,”Milo said, grinning at me from his spot by the building’s front door, where he was lounging against the wall like a very smug Cheshire Cat, complete with a bright pink and purple shirt which looked as if it had been ripped straight out of the eighties.
I groaned and put my hand over my face, wishing the ground would open and swallow me up. I’d told Owen I didn’t care if Milo heard us, but that was before—when I was desperate and horny and not thinking about the consequences—and now I really did care.
Fuck, I couldn’t believe I’d been so loud Milo hadn’t only heard us, he’d bought us supplies.
I mean, I was very grateful, but I wasnevergoing to be allowed to live this down.
And I was really glad Owen had left in the early hours so I didn’t have to face Milo with him. Because I knew Milo would have asked a dozen inappropriate questions before we even got out of the door.
I screwed up my face as I realised he was probably going to do that anyway.
“Morning,” I said, my eyes firmly fixed on the door and not him.
“Aww come on, don’t be embarrassed,” Milo said, poking me gently in the ribs. “You got epically laid last night; you don’t have any reason to be a sourpuss.”
“I’m not being sour. I’m just…” I sighed and pushed my hair back out of my face. “Please tell me you at least put your headphones in? Or on? Just please tell me you used them.”
“Why? Are you worried I’m going to judge you or something? I’ve always known you were a noisy bottom—remember that time we went to Ibiza and you brought that guy back and I sat with Alfie in his room so you could have ours to yourself? We heard everything.” He shrugged and clapped me on the shoulder. “It’s not a big deal. Frankly I’m just happy you’re getting off with someone who clearly knows what he’s doing and wants to make you scream. I mean, with everything going on you deserve to get dicked down on a regular basis. It’s good for you.”
I chuckled and reached for the door handle. “That’s what Owen said: orgasms are good for stress relief.”
“See! If you don’t listen to me, at least listen to him.”
“I never listen to you,” I said teasingly as we stepped out into the street. The sky was overcast again, but it was also hot and humid, the air so thick it felt like it was clinging to our skin. Seagulls wheeled overhead, screeching and cawing as they flocked towards the centre of town and the moors beyond. I didn’t think we were due a storm, or even any rain, but it was suddenly all I wished for. Anything to break the soupy stickiness of the air.
“Ouch, you didn’t have to say it like that,” Milo said, taking a deep breath. “Fuck me, we need some rain. It’s worse than Satan’s sweaty arse crack out here.” He turned to me andgrinned wickedly. It was not an expression I liked. “You should go down to the beach—it would be a great way to cool off.”
“Maybe later.”
“Or you could go now and see if your very generous top is out swimming again. Don’t you want to see him all wet and sexy?”
“First of all, his name is Owen and that is all you should be calling him, especially because he’s?—”
“Our employee?”
“Yes.” I shook my head quickly, trying to stop my thoughts from screeching to a halt. “And secondly, he’s a human being, Milo, and a nice person, show some basic respect.”
“Got it, Sexy Owen it is then,” he said with a wink as he began to walk down the street.
“No, that’s not what I meant and you know it.”
“I won’t call him that to his face.”
