Although, given Milo’s loud singing from the front of the shop as he, Alfie, and Ellie cleaned down and did a stock check, it was safe to say we weren’t currently being spied on.
“Because it would be fun,” he said, putting his hand lightly on my chest. Right above my heart. “We could celebrate successfully getting tiramisu past our expert panel of judges.”
“I wouldn’t exactly call them experts.”
We paused as Milo turned up the volume and began singing Chappell Roan’s “Pink Pony Club” at the top of his voice.
It wasn’t something he had the pitch for, no matter how good his voice was.
“True, but they’re the best we’ve got,” he said, chuckling softly as Alfie and Ellie joined in the chorus. One definitely more enthusiastically than the other. “And we should reward ourselves for our hard work.”
“Yeah? How?”
“I think you should fuck me,” Darcy said, angling his head so his lips brushed against mine. “Hard.”
“Yeah, darlin’? Want me to use that pretty arse of yours as a reward? Make you scream my name so loud everyone in Heather Bay knows what I’m doing to you?”
“Yes.”
“Let’s get going then,” I said. “See how far we can get before your downstairs neighbour hammers on the door with a noise complaint.”
Darcy’s cheeks flushed slightly as he glanced away, checking to see if anyone had noticed us. But given the karaoke session next door was still going on, I guessed not.
“Do we have anything else to do?” he asked, and my gaze followed his around the kitchen to check for any stray utensils, dirty pots, or unsupervised containers of ice cream. But because we were awesome, everything was already spotless. There was only a bag of rubbish by the back door for us to throw in the bin on our way out.
“No, we’re all done.”
“Let’s go then, and see how long it takes for them to notice we’ve left.”
We grabbed our bags and I picked up the bag of rubbish as we ducked out the back door, quickly dumping it into the bin before we walked around the side of the building. Darcy grabbed my hand to lead me down towards the front, and I was glad we didn’t have to go past the front of Lick It! or we’d definitely have been spotted.
Not that I cared about anyone seeing us, but Darcy hadn’t told Alfie what was going on and he deserved to do that on his own terms. If he told him at all. Which he didn’t have to, obviously. It wasn’t like this was anything serious.
Even if it was starting to feel like it might be.
Darcy practically floated along the pavement, excitement radiating off him, and just seeing it made me smile.
It made me want to give him everything.
I put my arm around Darcy’s waist as soon as he stopped to pull his keys out of his pocket, using my other hand to brush his hair over his shoulder so I could trail kisses down his neck. He shivered and moaned, fingers fumbling his keys and dropping them on the floor.
“You should pick them up, angel,” I said, letting my words ghost over his skin.
“You’ll have to let go of me then.”
“Do I?” I gently put my hand on the middle of his spine, bending him over. His arse rubbed over my crotch and we both groaned. Darcy grabbed his keys and slowly straightened, turning his head to steal a kiss. “See? I didn’t need to let go of you.”
“Mmm, I guess not.”
“Unlock the door. We need to celebrate.”
It took a couple of attempts, but Darcy managed to get the keys in the door, and it swung open with a creak. He grinned andslid his hand into mine before heading to the stairs up to his flat. His door was easier to open and slammed quickly shut behind us as soon as we stepped inside.
Darcy spun and launched himself into my arms, kissing me desperately, his hands tugging at the bottom of my T-shirt. It was like he’d been deprived of my touch for months, and I couldn’t deny how much it turned me on to be needed this much. My head spun and my chest lurched, a maelstrom of emotions swirling through me too fast to pin any of them down.
All I could do was focus on Darcy. And giving him what he wanted.
“Fuck, angel,” I said with a moan as he pulled my T-shirt over my head and threw it onto the floor. “You really are desperate, aren’t you? Don’t I fuck you enough?”
