Hunter loops an arm around us, squeezing us in a group hug. “You know you love it! Now, bottoms up, bitches!”
I choke down the second shot, letting it carry every lustful gaze and sizzling touch with it. Down the drain it goes, never to be thought about again.
Once again, Hunter doesn’t flinch when she shoots hers back. “So, back to this whole swearing off men thing. I don’t understand. This is the perfect time to be running around, living your best life. Let all the men chase you around like horny dogs at your feet.”
“I’m trying to figure out life on my own for once, without a confusing man in the mix,” I respond.
Her brows furrow. “Oh, babe. You got the wrong idea. I didn’t saydatea man. What you need is some good dicking down, no strings attached. Play the field a little. If men can do it, so can we. Just ask your ex.” Hunter shrugs, bumping her shoulder into mine playfully.
“Ouch. I’m just going to pretend you didn’t just bring up that two-faced turd.”
Her brows rise. “Did you not say word for wordthat blonde girl saved me from a life of below average dickingandreally, I should be thanking her.”
I shrug; she’s not wrong. I’m not torn up about him per se—more mad at myself for poor judgement of character once again.
Men suck.
“Maybe when I go back home, I’ll dabble, but for now, I need to focus on my writing.”
“Kill two birds with one stone. Imagine the steamy scenes you can write after conducting somelocal research.” Hunter’s brows waggle.
“I second that,” Laine agrees, cheers-ing her untouched shot in the air. “Though it’s pretty slim pickings in this town.” She huffs. “I would know. Add a child in the mix, and no man could ever fill the role I’m looking for.”
“I wouldn’t even know where to look,” I add.
Hunter puts her palm in front of my face. “I can fix that. Give me your phone.”
I reluctantly hand it over to her, making sure it’s unlocked. She taps away for a few minutes, her finger swiping furiously before handing it back.
“There, fixed,” she says with a devilish smile.
“What chaos did you just unleash?” I ask hesitantly. Myphone starts buzzing like a madman in my hand, and I arch a brow at her. “Hunter?”
“What?” She smirks. “I gave the people what they wanted.”
“And that is?”
“Your kitty.” She looks damn proud of her work when the messages start to flood in. There must be at least fifteen already in the span of a minute.
“A dating app? Really?”
“Oh, let me see,” Laine squeals, scooting closer. “Fuck, he’s hot. My vote is him.”
“You said you didn’t know where to look, so I brought them to you.” Hunter’s face lights up. “Look, you’re already a hit. Imagine all the dicks lined up to choose from.”
“Did you swipe yes on every man on the app?”
She looks offended, bringing a hand to her chest. “Of course not. There was one man missing teeth, Maisie.”
I throw my phone on the counter. “This is too much.”
“Well, you don’t have to fuck them all, babe. Maybe just a couple to start with.”
“What the hell did I sign up for, being your friend?” I tease.
“You both are stuck with me, I’m afraid,” she says.
“Cheers to that,” Laine chants, finally taking her shot.
