They creeped her out, and as they sat in the stark white skulls, she had chills.
Where was her ME when she needed him?
Oh, that’s right. He was back inDamascusunder guard from a lunatic.
Tony saw the staining on the one skull.
“I’m going to hazard a guess, here, but he’s used the skulls to get off. That spotting in the under part of the skull area looks fresh.”
Well, that was the least surprising thing. Someone was being consistent if nothing.
“No shock there,” she stated. “Is it a male?” she asked, knowing what she’d assessed previously.
He nodded.
“Yep. That’s a male. The skull has a broader forehead and more prominent brow. I’d put him in his fifties just by looking at the wear and tear on his teeth.”
Elizabeth gently put him down, so not to make the eyeballs fall out of the sockets. Then again, she knew they tended to dry out when they weren’t where they were supposed to be and were likely sticking to the bone.
That was a whole other gross-out for her.
“Let me see the other.”
She did the same thing, and Tony checked it out.
“I see semen staining inside that skull, too. If you have a black light…”
She stopped him.
“Yeah, this is creepy as fuck, Anthony. I’m not one to handle heads. That’s Chris’ thing. We know this dude is a sicko, so I’ll assume it is semen, because Devon can’t keep it in his pants for the dead.”
That was true.
“Well, at least they weren’t meaty. He couldn’t violate them.”
Oh, and that was a crazy silver lining, but the man wasn’t wrong, now was he?
It was a horrible thing in itself.
“Age?” she asked.
Tony considered it.
“This one is somewhere in her thirties,” he admits. “If my anthropology is right, you have a male and a female. I’ll be able to tell you more when I get them back here and study them further.”
Yeah, she was aware.
“Now, Anthony, I need your eyes for a second.”
He laughed.
“Uh, that might be a bad way to put that,” he joked to try and keep it light.
He could see the stress lines around Elizabeth’s mouth, and he knew her well enough that she wasNOThaving a good time.
