“Yes, it is. He has a hospital wing named after his mother, one after his father, and he played philanthropist. Trust me when I say he’s not. His father was a piece of garbage whoalso killed people. We’re currently working on finding all of his victims, and bringing the family crimes to light.”
They listened.
“So, I’ve come here today to do two things.”
They waited.
“I’m going to ask that all companies who have named buildings or places that he made legacy donations in his father’s name, remove them. You don’t want to be known as companies who support rapists and killers. There are far better people out there who deserve it, and do you really want to be tied to a murderer?”
The media was enthralled.
She knew who wouldn’t be.
Slater, and all of those companies who were being blindsided. Oh, they’d take the names down, and that would fuck the dead man’s legacy.
That was punch one, in the one-two punch.
Here came the next one.
The knockout.
“Next, I’m asking the public for its help. This broadcast will be spread over the internet and to every news station in the US. I want everyone to be on the lookout for this man.”
Kate handed her a file.
In it, Elizabeth pulled out pictures they’d printed out. They showed Devon smiling, mingling with people, and they’d used MATE to alter his face enough that if he went to a plastic surgeon at any time, he still wouldn’t be able to hide.
Checkmate, asshole.
“He’s out there, and we know he’s in the US. We’ve tagged his passports, and we are currently working with Interpol, and MIS to make sure he doesn’t leave the US.”
The media was chomping at the bit.
“What else, Director?” one reporter asked.
She went there.
“As of ten minutes ago, we froze assets by having the president authorize the power to do so. Devon Slater is now wanted by every single country in the world. His face is being spread everywhere, and he’s public enemy number one of the United States of America.”
Yeah, Devon.
Suck.
On.
That.
That was the kind of power she had, and exactly how she was going to wield it.
She stared into the camera.
“Devon, you’re not getting out of this mess. Turn yourself in.”
The one reporter was curious.
“And if he doesn’t?”
It was as if she knew how the reporters questioned things, and she’d been ready for this. Not only was he on all the watch lists, and couldn’t leave, she had a little something-something for him.
