Why?
She was with two Archangels, and between them, they likely had on more firepower than a platoon of soldiers. They weren’t taking chances, and he knew it.
Raphael wouldn’t let Ethan down, and Uriel was hyper attached to Elizabeth as a mother figure. They were up her ass at all times.
“I’ll let that go,UNTILyou do something shady. Don’t drop your security. That nut could be tracking you.”
If he was, he deserved to catch her. If Ivan couldn’t pinpoint her location, she doubtedThe Grave Robbercould.
But then again, she’d just been delivered a jar with a woman’s uterus and a pretty little love letter at the last crime scene.
So, who knew?
Apparently, money could buy you all kinds of shit.
Lucky her.
“I have to go, Ivan. I’m about to land, and you hate it when I cut you off without blowing you kisses. MWAH!”
He actually laughed.
“You’re ridiculous,” he said.
Only, she didn’t get to sign off. She heard him, and she knew that she just wanted to see him once. Elizabeth missed her life, and mostly, she missed the men in it.
“EJ?” she asked, as Ivan was focused on someone to his left.
“Let me talk to my wife,” he said, verifying she’d nailed that one.
Handing him his tablet, Ivan gave the man a few moments with his wife. Maybe he could talk some sanity into her before it was too late.
He was more worried now than an hour ago because Ivan had seen her.
She looked like hell, and hopefully, Ethan would give her the motivation to keep going. There was no doubt that Elizabeth was on a crusade to beatThe Grave Robber.
Only, crusades never ended well.
EVER.
When he came on the screen, Ethan was in his tribal wear, telling her all she needed to know.
Life was going on without her back inDamascus, and that hurt her heart.
God.
She missed normalcy so damn much.
DamnThe Grave Robberright to that fiery pit of Hell for making her play these games.
“Hey,” she said. “You’d better have protection all over you if you’re on the reservation.”
He reassured her.
“I was. I’m at the mansion now.”
Then, Ethan stared at Raphael and Uriel, clueing them in to what he wanted.
“Gentlemen, can I speak to my wife alone?” he asked. “Privately?”
