“You worthless fucking dog,” she said. “You piss in the house, you piss on my shoes, and you’re a pain in my ass!” Veruca said. “I think you might fall off the balcony and to your death, you worthless piece of shit.”

Oh.

Hell.

No.

A puppy killer too?

Eve had to draw the line, and that was it. This hoe was about to meet her maker, and now, more so for what she was about to do than what she’d done to her.

When she went to kick the puppy again, Eve had enough. She’d forgotten the need to kill Veruca for burning her, and now, she was going to off her for being an animal abuser.

“Hey, Veruca,” she said, and when the woman looked up, Eve pulled her gun, and gave her two bullet holes in her head, simultaneously.

The woman fell backward, landing in some flowers by the bench.

Well, that job was done.

The dog was pulling on the leash, and Eve wasn’t leaving it here. Yeah, someone would save it, but it would also make Veruca found much sooner.

It looked like someone was getting a dog. Violet had wanted one, and the universe provided.

Picking the puppy up, she tucked it into her arm and yanked the leash off of the dead woman’s wrist. Then, she dug out her phone to bring back to Maura before she began walking away.

Pulling her backpack off, she tucked the puppy into it, and wore it on the front of her, as she dropped the silenced gun into a garbage can not far away.

That’s when she saw the motorcycle.

Well, if she was breaking the rules, she was really breaking them.

Texting Gene, she told him the job was done and to transfer funds. Then, she sent a selfie to her husband. It was of her and the dog.

‘I’m on my way home. Guess what I found? We just got a puppy. Love you, Cowboy. See you for cuddles and beignets. I’m buying.’

Then, she hit send and got her ass onto that motorcycle. Hotwiring it, she tore down the street, the puppy licking her face.

Eve was heading in.

Her job was complete, and now, Veruca would never betray anyone again.

Especially a Snake.

That Same Day

At Dusk

Hours Later

While she wanted to get to Devon Slater, Maura had put the kibosh on making a move on him during the daylight. So, instead, they spent the next four hours planning for the assault.

Honestly, Elizabeth understood, and she trusted the woman to get the job done.

Kicking in the gate, killing security, and grabbing him would draw attention to them a little too much.

And no one wanted that.
