She thanked him even as the man in question flipped him off with two birds—not one.

“I appreciate that, Zayn.”

And she did.

Gene pointed at the bars on the fence, wanting to get this dude just as much as Elizabeth.

“How are we getting past them?” he asked. “That’s eight feet high, and if we try to climb it, someone is seeing us.”

He had a point.

Maura knew how they were getting in.

“Zayn, spread them.”

The big man moved toward the fence where a tree was blocking most of the view, and then, he put his big boot on one bar and grabbed the one next to it. Using his full body weight and strength, he stretched the bars out.

It wasn’t much, but it was enough for them to slip through the opening.

When he was done, they all headed his way, and sure as shit, they were able to squeeze through. Gene and Zayn both barely fit through, but by taking their vests off, they made it.

Now, they were in the man’s backyard.

Not far away, he was sitting on his luxury-covered porch, his back to them as he had his feet up by the fire pit.

It looked cozy.

And it was going to be his last luxury if Elizabeth had anything to say about it.

Maura made hand signals, and they split up, moving along the perimeter. Gene and Zayn went one way, Maura and Jagger went the other.

And Elizabeth crept up behind him going through the middle of the yard.

As she approached, she heard him on the phone.

“Good job. Thank you for deleting that information. I should be good for now. If I need your services, I’ll call you. I’m thinking about one last job, and it’s a big one. I might need you to hack into some bank accounts. I have a target that I want to be so poor, that he eats his gun. I mean all of his money. He’s a businessman, so I know how he’ll crash.”

Elizabeth knew what he was planning.

He was going to go after Chris’ money, and then likely Callen’s next. Well, he wasn’t doing that.

“I’ll call you if I decide to do it. Thank you. Money is transferred from my other account. Go in and delete that one too.”

Then, he hung up.

“Oh, Elizabeth, how will your husband afford his expensive doctors for HIV when I steal all of his money?” he said, not realizing she was literally right behind him.

Oh, was he in for a big surprise?

Yeah, she couldn’t wait to see the look on his face.

“Women shouldn’t play games with men,” he said. “They just aren’t smart enough.”

That’s when she made her move, putting her gun to the back of his head.

“Are you sure about that, Devon?” she asked. “Because I’m pretty fucking smart, Ms. Sara Bishop.”

His whole body froze.
