She saw the list on the table, and circled was one name, and only one name.
The list?
It was of her kids. He was specifically focused on Charlie, and that pissed her off.
“She was his target.”
Maura reassured her.
“Yeah, but we beat him to the punch.”
Yes, they did.
As they were standing there, the men walked by carrying a bound, wide-awake Devon. His eyes were huge, and he was crying.
Oh, he’d not seen anything yet.
“Oh, Devon, I’m going to make you wish you were dead. Trust and believe that, Pumpkin.”
With that, they carried him into the garage, and as they were loading him up, and she knew what they needed to do.
Burn this place to the ground.
Everything here was a way to take her out. There was no way she could let anyone see anything here. They also couldn’t transport it all.
It pissed her off that all of this was found in the first place, and it scared her.
Elizabeth’s children weren’t safe.
And that was on her.
When Zayn came in, she pointed.
“I want the mother of all explosions. I’m talking so big, it’s on the news in foreign countries. I want a burning crater that leaves nothing to be found. No one sees my psych profile, or all of the information on our homes and kids.”
He grinned.
“Oh, now you’re talking my language,” he said, pulling two devices out of his pocket. “I’d get your ass into the ride. This place is about to go bye-bye, along with the houses around them.”
Normally, she’d worry about other people.
But she was beyond caring about anything anymore. He’d been planning to take Charlie, and that did enough to her brain that she didn’t give a fuck about anything else.
Not this time.
Heading out, she got into the vehicle and climbed into the back with Devon. She sat beside Gene, who had his big boot on the man’s balls.
From the redness of Devon’s face, she’d bet he wasn’t being gentle either.
As Zayn came running out of there, he dove into the SUV, and Maura got them out of there.
They’d made it half a mile away from the house, to the entrance, when they all heard the boom.
It.
Was.
Sonic.
